Hi Everyone! Relocating to Wallingford in about a month. Media seems to be the closest downtown area, we can't wait to spend more time there. There aren't any groups...
Anita B. replied:
Not as lively as Media but Swarthmore is a charming little town with great events like the Farmers Market (#1 in PA), Food Truck-a-thon & Fine Arts Fest. Here's the website: http://www.swarthmoretowncenter.com

For bakeries, Wayside market or Jes-Made. But Wegmans cakes and cupcakes are absolutely delicious.

Does anyone have a recommendation of a local place I can get lunch meat on the cheaper side? Grocery stores can sometimes be pricey. Thanks for your help!

Sam and Sams

Brookhaven Market
John B. replied:
I also vote for Sam and Sams in Upland. They probably sell more freshly sliced luncheon meats and cheeses than anyone else in the area.
Priscilla A. replied:
Brookhaven Deli near Pep Boys has really low prices

Sam and Sams has Dietz and Watson as well as other brands. You can get domestic ham which is cooked ham as low as $2.39 lb or get better imports from Canadian to Polish Krakus and they are very good quality. We could tell you about a ton of top shelf/top prices but you want quality at a great price...its Sams. I have heard Brookhaven Deli gets meats ready to expire.....thats too me is like drinking milk on the date on the jug.
I was sad to learn tonight that Tori's butcher shop in Drexel Hill is closing... Ugh it is the only place I buy my meat! So can I get recommendations for butchers?? No...
Anybody have any leads on where to get a good cut of brisket? Local grocery stores and their "butchers" have been disappointing.
Denise N. replied:
Try Roy Tweety Butcher shop..on Mcdade Boulevard in Ridley
Nick B. replied:
Sam and Sam of you buy a whole brisket. Cryovac or Costco. However most people just want either the flat or tip.The Meat House in chaddsford has awesome meat ( their steaks are amazing) and I've gotten shoulders for smoking and brisket there. It's not cheap but they can trim and cut to what you're looking for and only have quality stuff

Try Wegmans - Glen Mills. Or the Amish Farmers Market on Rt 202 - open Thursday's, Friday's and Saturdays.
This is a strange question, I know: I'm wondering if there is anywhere local to buy lard (to mix into the corn flour when making tamales). There is a little Mexican...
