No Regrets and Making Momma Proud in CY. edit: I mean underground art. Their website is http://www.makingmommaproud.com/ (along with all their social accounts).

My experience at Studio 42 was mostly awful but that was 7 years ago. I would imagine they've gotten better but take that for what it's worth.

No Regrets, hands down. As someone else said, they've been voted Best Tattoo Shop in Memphis pretty much every year since they opened. There's a reason for that. The best artist there is Tony Max, and his waiting list is usually several months out. So if you can, wait on him. If you're looking for something quicker, everyone there does great work but I don't know their waiting lists. This shit's gonna be on your body forever. I know getting a tattoo is like getting a new car. When you want it, you want it *now* but it's worth going to the best, even if it means waiting a little longer.

nate@trilogy ..we have a lot of good artist though, Ronin, No Regrets, Ramses, Studio 42, depends on what you want really, they all have their own style.

I would say it matters on what you're trying to get done. No Regrets is very good from what I've heard. I personally go to Trilogy though.

Ronin, on Broad. Babak is amazing.

Kevin and Shannon Johnson at Ramesses' Shadow are amazing. Everything they do is custom drawn and executed extremely well. The only issue some may have is the wait. They do no walk-ins and they are booked 15-18 months in advance. However, if you are willing to wait, and want a unique piece of art, they are your guys. Plus, they are two really cool guys to boot.

I got mine done at Studio 42 and can't complain about it. It was about 5 years ago, so I don't have recent knowledge though.

wow. Thanks for all the input. I will check these out.

I've been told repeatedly that No Regrets was the best in town. Apparently the head artist has a wait list though. At least he did 6 months ago when a coworker tried to get in.
Tattoo studio recommendations? I called No Regrets to ask about scheduling a consultation for a small, basic piece. The girl who answered told me off for not having...

I've gotten my most serious piece done by Cole at Trilogy and he did a fantastic job. Highly, highly recommended if you're into B&W dot work and geometric ideas. I've had smaller, shop-minimum type stuff done at Underground Art and No Regrets, both I was happy with. Underground Art is worth looking into, since it seemed like less of a waiting process/easier consultations.

That's odd, I've been going to No Regrets for a while and I've had two decent sized pieces done and they never gave me any guff.

Nate at Trilogy has done my girlfriend and I's tattoos for a few years now. He does great work and the staff has always been awesome. Nothing but positive experiences for us there.

I'm not sure what's up with whoever you talked to at No Regrets. That's unfortunate. But if you can get past that or maybe talk to someone else....No Regrets really is the best tattoo shop in the city, by a pretty wide margin. They've won those Best Tattoo Shop awards in the Flyer pretty much every year since they've been open. I mean, you said you're only getting something small and basic, so I'm sure any of the other places mentioned here can probably do a fine job with it.
