I was a vet tech for 10 yrs at other hospitals. I cannot say enough about Daniel Webster Animal Hospital. They are kind, caring and NEVER take our babies away even for bloodwork. They will stay and answer any and all questions without making you feel rushed. They give you options and respect your choices as you know your pet the best. The compassion is far beyond anyone I have ever worked for. I have had to say goodbye to three babies there. One died suddenly and Dr. Jenkins met me at the door and cried with me for our sweet boy. I asked her to find out why he died and she stayed late into the night and called as well to discuss it while we both shed tears. Our schnauzer was extremely sick and they did everything they could including calling us on the weekend and after hours. Dr. Rosa was so compassionate when we chose to say goodbye and came to me on the floor for mine and my schnauzers comfort through the process. Last our 16 yr old cat was dying and they helped us end her life peacefully consoling us and gave us time afterward to spend time with her. When we felt it was enough time we gave a simple tap and the nice tech came in to carry her body away so she was never left alone even in death. Best hospital hands down.

Michael P. replied:
I talked to Dr. Kaas about Gypsy's loose stools and constipation. I was concerned about her health but he said it was just her diet (Blue Buffalo is high in protein). He recommended Taste of the Wild (which we get at Pet's Choice - another Merrimack gem) and she's been perfect ever since we switched. Dr. Kaas feeds his own dogs that brand. He was extremely thorough and loving when we brought her in to him for her first exam and he checked EVERYTHING - he even expressed her anal glands. TMI? ;-) He revealed some things that Daniel Webster Animal Hospital had overlooked. Dr. Kaas used to rent out the clinic next door to the Humane Society for Greater Nashua before he built his new hospital - I was executive director of the humane society for 14 years so I got to know Dr. Kaas very well. He's an AMAZING man and a highly skilled veterinarian who's been practicing for over 40 years. He's extremely compassionate. I can't say enough good about him. And his staff are all terrific, welcoming and accommodating people.
Regina W. replied:
I currently go to VCA Daniel Webster Animal Hospital in Bedford and see Dr. Jenkins because that’s where my puppy went when he came up to NH. I’m happy with them but their prices went up when they got bought out by VCA, and some people aren’t happy that they’re no longer independent and owned by a big corporate conglomerate. I was recently at an event where Ponemah Veterinary Hospital in Amherst was at and Jennifer was super kind and will be my backup vet for sure.
Robin H. replied:
Hollis veterinarian Dr Jill is awesome and caring for you and your pet and your pocket I've had her for years she use to come out to my farm and do my horses then she bought Hollis veterinarian.
Michael P. replied:
We used to go to VCA Daniel Webster Animal Hospital but their fees are insane. Dr. Jenkins was our vet and she's very nice and capable. But the expense forced us to switch and we couldn't be happier with Dr. Richard Kaas at Mercy Animal Hospital on DW Highway. Great practice and their fees are reasonable.

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Mercy Animal Hospital in Merrimack, used to use Nashua Veterinary Hospital at exit 5 and the docs there turned over like a revolving door, they were good but VERY expensive. Mary P. replied:

Mercy used to have emergency/on-call..I knew someone that had a retriever that swallow a tennis ball in the middle of the night. Used to use MVH near AB, but all the vets jumped ship, so moved on. Use Milford Vet Clinic now as one vet moved there that we liked.
Sharon R. replied:
I agree Nashua Animal Hospital is way to expensive I go to to DW now much better.
Jennifer D. replied:
Also for all you animal lovers. Always ask if a medication a vet is prescribing is also a drug for humans. You can get medication at a regular pharmacy for significantly less. Animal Hospital of Nashua charged me $80 medicine for my dog for months until someone told me u could get it at the drug store. It was $12.
Maureen D. replied:
Merrimack veterinarian hospital on Dan'l Webster Highway has told me it was cheaper to get over the conter pills for my dog than get a canine prescription for the same thing.
Mary-Elizabeth H. replied:
Animal Hospital in Nashua is unbelievably expensive. We use Mercy Animal Hospital and they refer us to the Emergency Animal Hospital in Manchester.
Christine N. replied:
I have used Nashua Animal Hospital for emergency visits and one which required surgery and was beyond happy with my experience there. I've been a customer of Daniel Webster Animal Hospital for 15 years for my dogs' check-ups and regular day to day needs and while I have always received good service from them I'm not always left feeling happy I'm giving them my business. The front desk is often not very friendly or helpful and often don't follow through with things such as fulfilling prescriptions to be picked up at a designated time so you're left waiting 30 plus minutes even though you call it in 24 hours in advance. If you go to DWAH I recommend Dr. Huelle, Dr. Rosa or Dr. Heald. Dr. Heald has been especially phenomenal in the care of my elderly dog, even doing check-up calls at 9pm. She's basically why I've stayed there since she basically brought my dog back to life and was willing to give it a try when I think most doctors would have just given up. He's still a happy guy 2 years later:)
Jennieanne S. replied:
Anyone have experience with Merrimack Veterinary Hospital? I take my dogs there and get a very salesy feeling from the vet there. Sometimes it's hard to tell whether or not they're recommending things to bilk me or because it's actually needed.
Mary C. replied:
We've used Amherst Animal Hospital for 23 years.
Jayne C. replied:

Dee C. replied:
Animal Hospital of Nashua is entirely way over priced, compared to other practices where the care is much better. I do not take any of my animals to them for emergency care. I use Manchester or CAVES in concord. I prefer CAVES to Manchester. Our primary vet has been Daniel Webster for 20 years.
Laurie S. replied:
Agree with other comments here, while Animal Hospital of Nashua is really good and 24 hr emergency care, they are very overpriced. (I used to go there for all my dog care when I adopted a lab who had cancer and they took great care of him but it cost a fortune). For years now I have been going to Mercy Animal Hosipital in Merrimack. I absolutely LOVE them! All my pets go there now and I would only go somewhere else in the event of an emergency.
Alison C. replied:
my dog died there at 2 am on may 5 th. they were so amazing! great overnight care(he was half dead when i got him there). i go to All Pets, but they just moved into an incredible, beautiful new facility and a dental with 4 extractions on a 4 year old 60 lb dog cost me 2390$. im still reeling and its been 4 days. we are paying for their new digs, im afraid. i do like that nashua has the overnight care, and i was actually thinking of moving there too. at All Pets, ear cytology alone went from 15-17$ to 33$!! OVERNIGHT! i have labradors. ear crap alone is costing me 400$ a year now. no wonder nobody adopts animals anymore

My husband is a large animal veterinarian, based out of Milford, NH, and he takes care of many sheep in this area. I'm a knitter and use quite a few of his clients' fiber! What kind of sheep do you have? Are you all set with sheering? If you have a large number of animals or if you've been saving up, there are some fantastic local places that will take your fleece, process it, and return it to you as you specify. I'm hoping to start experimenting with dyeing this summer! You are welcome to give a call to the office if you have specific questions regarding health issues or concerns: 654-7237. Oops, his name is Bill Legault, DVM.
