Emergency Veterinary Care Specialists on the corner of Rowe Rd. and Milford Rd in Milford, 248-684-0468. I don't think that they are the most affordable, but they saved our ferret's life and were very kind, and took good care of her, when she had to stay after surgery. Maybe pedialyte for the dehydration. I am not a vet, so take that "medical advice" at your own risk (that is for the vet lady in the previous post). Anyway, I hope your dog gets better.

Brandy D. replied:
We go to Dr. Herman as well. He travels all over the place. He comes to Tractor Supply in White Lake once or twice each month. We were just there today in fact. His prices are great and he goes above and beyond. My dad lives in Westland and has three dogs. He also takes them to Dr. Herman. Just this morning my dads one dog had a seizure and he called Dr. Herman at 6 am and he got out of bed and opened his Westland office just for my dad. Our family hasn't had a vet that is that committed in a very long time.
Brandy D. replied:
And Brian, I may be wrong, but I don't think Tractor Supply makes any money off of the mobile vet visits because his prices are the same no matter where we've seen him, including his main office in Westland:-) We don't shop there anyway. We just go there to see Dr. Herman since it's so close.

That is half the cost of the other clinics. And they said they would work with me to come up with a plan to help her.

Just putting it out there, but we take all of our pets out to Dansville Veterinarian (not sure if that's the right name). My pit was very ill and almost died we were referred there by a emergency vet after many misdiagnosis by other vets they saved my girls life and I won't go anywhere else now. Long drive and all. And they give you an itemized bill they'll ask what you can afford or what limit you want to set for what you can pay and they won't go over that. Bill I have two myself, and their older dogs with issues. Dr. Clark would be my best bet here in town but if you don't mind a long drive, lol, I actually go to Wilsons in Romeo... They are 24 hours an ER vet too. They saved my Dogs life when another vet said put her down. I called multiple vets and everyone wanted an astronomical amount of money and I cried my heart out! Then an angel of a girl from one of the expensive vets sent me here to Wilsons. They are as good as Oakland Veternarian Referral Service in West Bloomfield but a fraction of the price. It takes me more than an hour to drive there but I do because it's what I can afford. They have I think seven other locations but there not all the same name. They are all on the east side. Their number is 586 752-6217. Btw they only charge $12 for an ER visit. Other ERs cost $100 or more just to walk in the door. Also you should they have 26 doctors there. Not a small place but prices are very good in comparison to other places. Good luck.

I love Dr. Clark. Just a a little info for people in need of an a really good ER vet, it's very far but WORTH IT. They saved my dogs life at a fraction of the price of ER vets anywhere else. Wilson Veterinary Hospital in Washington Twp. (Romeo). It's far I know, but they are that good. The fee for Emergency is $14.00. They have 26 doctors and 5 other locations, all on the east side. I go here for major stuff. The prices AND care are worth it. Just thought I would put that out there.

Check with Michigan State..they helped us when our Rottweiler had addisons disease and needed the serum that was still in a study program to live..injection once a month at a reasonable cost..then we would take the serum to dr. Clark at Milford vet.for him to give her her monthly shot....good luck.
Amanda B. replied:
My dog had the same thing. He lived to be 11. He passes away several years ago, before alternative care was really available for dogs. I had him on phenobarbital and potassium bromide. Knowing what I know now, I would seek other options first. Dr. Matt in Howell is awesome for alternative care. A seizure is a scary thing for both you and your dog. Just let them know you are there, make sure there is nothing around for them to hurt themselves on during and after. Have a plan in place if the seizure is lasting more then 20 sec or if he starts to cluster. Start marking on the calendar when he has them, my dog always had then around a full moon. Good luck to both of you. Vets # 517-292-8880
Jennifer J. replied:
Our dog has epilepsy. We see Dr. Rutsey at Commerce Village Vet. He is on 2 pills twice a day to control the seizures. Levetiracetam and Zonisamide. It is not too expensive. We fill it at Kroger. If for some reason we miss a pill or he spits it out and doesnt take it, he has a seizure.

Shayla Purvis Good for you to do research on your animals disorder, I had a dog with Addison's disease I found her on a busy road, I saved her from being hit and I kept her, she was such a sweet girl. She had urine leakage and come to find out she needed surgery to only use one kidney, maybe someone dumped her off due to this, if they would have taken the time to take her to the vet, my whole family pitched in and we did the surgery, THEN this addison's disease, she died at 3 1/2 yrs of age she was at the emergency vet they called me stating she was crashing, just as I was going to transfer to MSU:'( This was before computers. YOU might want to call up to MSU they are really great and might be able to help it sure would be worth a try the are a teaching vet. Best of luck!

Dr Clark at Milford Vet, Towne and Country 24 hour Vet. There is also a Cat Vet at old US 23 & Grand River that is owned by Towne and Country. I think it might be called the cat hospital.
Carrie M. replied:
Those polydactyl nails can be hell on cats. When I got my cat her nails had curled into her paw pads and caused infections. I had NO problem finding a vet to remove the claws between her toes. I am vehemently opposed to declawing cats, this is really the only exception to that. It saddens me that any vet would insist on taking all the claws. I do know that Wixom Family Pet Practice refuses to declaw cats (I love them for this) but they would likely be willing to do what you ask, because it is NECESSARY. I believe they have an office in Waterford too. http://familypetpractice.com/about-us/wixom-family-pet-practice/

https://www.facebook.com/pages/Vet-Ex-Mobile-Veterinary-Service/151250071582785 She will honestly tell you the best option for your cat. She charges $35 for office visits and doesn't do unneccesary testing. My sons cat had an upper respiratory infection. Dr. Melissa Schultz gave him some antibiotics and told him what to do if the cat started showing signs of getting another respiratory infection to avoid having to make another vet visit. She is the best vet I have ever taken any of my animals to! You might have to leave a message and have them call you back, she isn't in the office everyday because she also does home visits. I know she does office appts on Thursdays and Fridays.

Is there a place where we can get A puppy to make him part of my family, we promise my kids for one but so far we weren't able yet...and I should ask, is it expensive???
Jenna N. replied:
So many good adoption suggestions on here! Remember after you get the puppy that the best thing you can do for it is good socialization and training right from the start! A calm, well mannered dog is a happy dog. https://www.facebook.com/208820042469298Union Lake Veterinary Hospital has WONDERFUL training and socialization programs. I'm sure there are many around here as well.
Canine Companions Rescue out of Clarkston is awesome! They had the cheapest adoption fee...$200 I think. They have pets at the Pet Smart in Auburn Hills on Sundays or check out their website. We got our German shorthair mix from them about 3.5 years ago.
Tiffany N. replied:
Petfinder.com will bring up all the rescues in your area, you can even get specific with breed and age if you want, but remember, yes dogs are expensive, you have yearly shots, heartworm medicine, flea prevention, food, toys, training, grooming, ect. And they are generally a 12-15 year commitment, if you are still in after hearing that, I am excited for you and your family to get a new fur baby, they are a wonderful family addition
