nerdy women my age any advice on where to look? reddit is the obvious answer but i am far from smooth when it comes to ice breakers or pickup lines, i have tried apps...

unfortunately you're part of a demographic which skews primarily towards men, so trying to meet women in your primary hobbies will be difficult. However, try. Go to meet-ups, conventions, book signings, open gaming sessions (if you do board games). Not sure where you live, but any large enough city will have a nerd community you can join. Keep trying on the dating apps. Be honest in your profile about your interests. Have an open mind about meeting new women, give them a chance. However, you can meet someone that doesn't share your same hobbies and still be compatible.

You either have to try different dating apps (they’re not all for hookups) or you have to leave your house. Women will not be delivered to your doorstep. Go find some local book clubs. Go hunt down your local comic book shop and go to their events or game nights. Go to Meetup.com and join some nerdy groups.

So I (37F) am pretty nerdy, too, and I met my boyfriend (34M and also very nerdy) at work. We're scientists. Work is a fantastic place to meet our own kind. Many of our coworkers also met their partners in grad school, occasionally undergrad. Just in case you're not interested in a science or engineering career, might I also recommend Geeks Who Drink? That's a fun event, and I know plenty of people who have met others of like mind that way as well.

Join a gaming group! There are lots on meet up and I know my local library has a game night.

Society for Creative Anachronism. I'm serious, a lot of people who share the same interests you do but who meet up in "real life". There's also LARPing, although I know more SCA women than LARPers. SCA can be a fully engrossing lifestyle or just something you do to socialize here and there. Different regions can be more intense than others from what I understand, but in my area there is very little role playing of persona and mostly just your "real world" people who like to learn new (medieval) skills, hang out, fight or watch the fighting, cook, sew, dress up at events, etc. Www.sca.org

Who says dating apps are just for hookups?

You need to go out and meet people if you want to meet someone. Go participate in some kind of hobby.

Depends on how nerdy you want to go. I would describe myself as nerdy and I went on [meetup.com](https://meetup.com) for my city, which has multiple "nerdy" groups. They were way beyond me though--D&D, larping, the whole 9 yards, so that was a bit of a disappointment. Still, if that is the kind of thing you are looking for, and you live in a big city, that's the way to go.

Hi I am a nerdy woman your age. I like going to mtg events, coffee shops, dnd gatherings, and hiking. Not sure if any of this is helpful lol. I would say go to your local game store or gamestop equivalent if you want to meet someone you can connect with irl.
