I'm feeling adventurous and and thinking about venturing across the river into The peoples Republic of Cambridge. Anyone have a restaurant that they highly recommend?!
Has anyone been to the restaurant now open in McEwensville? Can't remember the name but it is at the "intersection"

I have been. Service not the best. Food was good, not the best. Not enough waitresses for how busy they get. Not in a hurry to go back. Sorry, maybe I was there at a bad time. Allenwood Diner has been better.
. Who can tell me what restaurant used to be here? Do you remember?
Christine S. replied:
Flora Elizabeth

The Broadway Lunch was operated by Peter Pappas and John Callos. Back in the 1920 s they started delivering sandwiches and drinks at the train station for the waiting passengers. Later on, they opened a restaurant on Front St. known as the Alco and two others in Sunbury. Alco stood for American Lunch Company.

Yep Flora Elizabeth. The Betsy Ross was next to Leeser's and is now a haircut place. The Betsy Ross was owned by Nick Orphan who also made great homemade candy, and was eventually bought by my mother, Mary Steeley. Mary had started working for Nick when she was 12 years old!

Flora Elizabeth ..we called it Ellen's . It was owned by Ellen Hans and family. They also made candy. Especially popular at Easter. At one time moved candy store across Broadway.
Anthony V. replied:
Betsy Ross was the restaurant west of here, next to Leeser's Shoes. I believe this was the Flora Elizabeth Restaurant. The Broadway Lunch, where my father once worked was diagonally across the street from Kreb's News Stand.

Roger, the Ritters had a restaurant on the river side between the bank and Western Auto. I'm not sure if it was Sealtest or Mcdaniels or some other name. Sealtest might of been the ice cream name.
