I've heard mixed things about "dipping" vs "stripping". What I was told is sometimes when something is "dipped" the chemicals seep into the wood to the extent they seep back out over time after the piece is done. I had Old Science Furniture Refinishing in NE do a piece for me once - magnificent work - but the cost of refinishing far surpassed the value of the piece.

The Tweaker Wood Refinisher who lives in Webber Camden might be able to refinish it for you. Her name is Tresa Booth, phone 612-296-6221. She specializes in doing woodwork in houses, but she may be able to refinish or "renew" your table too.
