Ive had lots of friends who want to donate clothes from the UK. Ive suggested that they do clothes sales and donate the money instead so that money can be spent on the island, or donated to The Dirty Girls. Saves on shipping, brings money to the Island, and dirty girls help with recycling what has been bought

Molly Jones I am also funding for the dirty girls: https://www.generosity.com/community-fundraising/washing-for-refugees/x/12610080. It all goes to the same pot, for washing.

Leslie S. replied:
I guess I specified that under Hans's comment above, sorry. NuDay ships to Syria and Lebanon. It is very cold there as well, by the way. And Carry Me Home ships only children's clothing and baby carriers and has collections points in VT, NH and MA (I collect for them in Boston.) Are You Syrious distributes. A shipment should be going out soon. https://www.facebook.com/CarryMeHomeWithLove/
Shipping question
What's best rate people have paid for sending a container?
Any recommendations ?

On the more general question of quantities.. One or two locations have posted that they anticipate that they have enough in stock -- One on Kos and one on Lesvos that I have come across. Mostly, though, you'll see from the graph here that one-third of the recent arrivals across the Aegean have been women and children.. Pam Crosbie and others who welcome families who have been registered on the islands and arrive at the port for Athens are distributing baby carriers to families who have travelled through that far without a sling or similar. http://data.unhcr.org/mediterranean/country.php?id=83
Pam C. replied:
Dominique Marie there is an ongoing need for carriers, they are truly essential for the mums and the babies, both for ease and safety and warmth. Even if we get thousands, which we have had, they will be used as we are still getting around 1500 arrivals a day. I will continue handing out so long as there are refugees coming. I live here. If you want you can send to the warehouse in Kalloni, or if its not an enormous number then I can take delivery personally. If that's what you want let me know and i'll give you the addresses.
We've been collecting donations in Leeds, UK. We can arrange to ship them to Lesvos if you have space for them & volunteers to distribute.....

Maybe you could message Patrick Waidmann or Robert Nielsen at the central warehouse - they would be the people to ask.

Hi Christina McDonald-Legg, Congratulations on raising so much support.. The contributions of the people who gave you funds are so welcome, and very much needed. I am involved in a longer-term, backroom project to build up a shopping guide of "good guys" on the islands. Lesvos bags is a local business that has raised its game to make it easier to buy and supply locally on Lesvos. They can arrange delivery to the central depot that Patick and Robert organise - they are the centre that the front-line refugee response depend on to send what is needed to where it is needed.. https://www.facebook.com/lesvos.bags
Anyone any advice re cheap postage / shipping of donations from Ireland? ..thanks

DHL Aid.. They have had good comments.. You do need to insist on getting in contact with their Aid branch.. Many of their staff don't seem to know about it.. Good luck! For larger quantities.. contacting the airlines (not Ryanair.. needless to say)
