We did Kane Creek in late July last year. High 90's and there are plenty of shady spots to stop and take breaks.

My wife and I went last June 18 th to the 25 th... Stayed at the Hampton Inn... Had a blast... Temps were in the 100's but we wheeled in the morning when it was cooler and shopped or visited the many pubs or food joints in the warm afternoons... It was our first time as well and we did tower arch, seven mile, and fins... Went to some wineries and had a blast... Go to City Market and hook up with other groups if you want to not be alone out there... There weren't an over-abundance of people.... Have fun

October, November, April best months. Try the Kokopelli lodge & Suites pet friendly. The motel is old school but clean and cheap, their other off site properties are really nice.

End of April first of May is a good time we stayed in a nice little cabin before out of town by pack creek. Packcreekranch.org end of sept also a good time.

We do the drive every March April in a single day. It's a great time to be down there.

We have made that drive and will likely be doing it again this year...I have 3 kids, youngest are two 11 year olds. I make it a 2 day drive so it doesn't make it too rough on the kids. Stay in Moab Utah. It's right at Arches National Park and Canyonlands I've never done reservations ahead of time but last time I got stuck at the Super 8 and it was terrible! I would now book ahead and check reviews, lots of older hotels that are a bit run down but they are clean enough. The hike to Delicate Arch is my favorite and my kids did it at 9 years old...just keep an eye on the edges of the trail. It can be a long drop

Red Moon Lodge is a great b n b!

My wife and I did a road trip through France and Italy for 3 weeks with a 2 year old, 1 year old and a 4 month old. It was excellent. My only advice is don't be to planned out. Plan a 2 hour lunch stop so the kids can run. Expect about 1 1/2 times the expected travel time. Life is short. Kids are adaptable. Be patient and listen to their needs. They can do it

I did it, but it was just me. Along the way you can stop at Salt Lake City if you wish. Along the way I recommend Golden Spike National Monument and the Thiokol Rocket Garden. Stay in Moab, which is centrally located between both.

I drove down couple of weekends ago. 20 down and 25 up due to snow storm, it was slow going on Hghwy 6 mountain passes in UT. Delicate Arch was super busy and parking at TH was full after 11 on a Sat in Feb. There were at least 25 ppl at Mesa Arch at 5:45 trying to catch sunrise. If hotel is an option in Moab I dont think you will have a problem finding a place in April.

Went to Bryce Canyon, Zion and Grand Canyon. We found a Groupon for a place called Cedar Breaks Lodge awesome place to stay! With Groupon it was 68.00 per night. Lots for little kids to do, pool, play yard. Directly behind The lodge further up the mountain is cedar breaks monument absolutely gorgeous! Highly recommend, best family vacation!

Devils Garden Campground in Arches is one of my favorite places. The sunrises and sunsets are awesome there. Your boys will have a great time climbing all over the rocks and hiking trails to arch sights are pretty easy.

I think driving to Moab is feasible, though I miss the days we could just make the 5 hour drive from the Front Range in CO.:) If you want an economical place to stay, Inca Inn is great. NIce owners, clean, and right there on the main drag. Our fav hikes: Fisher Towers, Devils Garden, Klondike Bluffs, Delicate Arch, Granstaff TH (formerly known as Negro Bill Canyon), Corona Arch (this is my fav of them all!!!!), some of the shorter ones like Balanced Rock, Landscape Arch, Mesa Arch, Park Avenue, anything in Canyonlands. Slick Rock State Park is fantastic for a stunning hike or epic MTB ride!!! I <3 Moab. Also eat at Milt's and Eklekticafe while you're there. You won't be sorry.:)

Definitely don’t miss Goblin Valley. Kids their age would have a blast there! Double Arch is great too. Easier, short hike that featured in the opening sequence of “Indiana Jones & the Last Crusade”.

Do it! Recommend Gonzo Inn in Moab or Fairfield Inn (incl water park for kiddos). Get to parks early. Hiking can be slippery on sandstone, maybe bring a way for kids to clip on to you. Petroglyphs and Dino prints are fantastic to discover! Also, rotating night sky tours are incredible for kids & adults

You're not insane. Seatle to Boise is about 10 hours - day one. Second day will get you to National Park Country. En route or on return take a detour to Golden Spike National Monument. Kids will like seeing the trains.

You can do it! We did it last year. I HIGHLY recommend the ACT Campground in Moab. They have free clean showers, cheap laundry, a free community kitchen with a fridge you can store your stuff in, etc. It’s really amazing and was our home base for the week. We left Seattle 4:00 pm Saturday arrived in Zion 10:00 AM Sunday in April and didn’t have issues with getting reservations from the road. We did the Big 5 in 8 days.

We have 3 rooms left at Hotel Moab Downtown that would work for 3 adults and a toddler... the only renovated 2 queen bed room we have left has some handicapped accessible features, but most of the room is identical to our regular rooms. You are staying 3 nights and checking out on the 31st, right? The room with 2 queen beds would be $219/nt the first 2 nights and then $179 the last night. We have this same room (but not handicapped accessible) with a balcony for $10 more per night, or a non-renovated room with two queen beds, each bed in a separate bedroom, $209/night the first two nights and $169 on the 30th. Do you have any discounts like Military or AAA? The renovated rooms are beautiful and the non-renovated room is really huge! I am headed down at the same time, but am reconsidering. The prices for hotel rooms are going to be outrageous. For the most part most of the hotels are the same. However, try to find one that allows you to bring your bike in your room.

A lot of the RV/tent camping places also have little cabins to rent, might be early enough to still snag one of those. We always stay at Canyonlands RV park, nice tent sites, clean showers, pool and hottub, laundry, decent grills and they have about 15 cabins for rent if your not down with the tent.
