English speaking barber. Anybody know of a good english speaking barber near st Leonard or either Concordia campus?
I can't speak french yet, when I say barber I mean...
Blakwulf replied:
Try Andies. http://www.andiesbarbershop.com/ It's downtown and all the girls speak English and do a good jap. Won't pay more than $20 for a cut. Don't be fooled that it's all women that work there, it's not a salon.
AllSportEnthousiast replied:
Cheap. English. 78 year old Greek man named Jimmy. Check. Check. Why not. St-laurent and Marie-Anne. $12. tip well my friends
CaughtInTheNet replied:
there is a traditional old skool barber right next to Concordia on Pierce street. It's a short street so you'll find it (between st catherine's and de maisonneuve). A few of them speak English in there. $20 tip included.
whidzee replied:
I found Tommy's on st viatuer to be awesome. the guy has been cutting hair for about 50 years, its definately a barber. you can even get a shave with a cut throat if you want
mrmdc replied:
St Leo? Sure. Do you know the little strip mall near Viau and Jarry, where there is a Uniprix and an Intermarche? Well, next to the Intermarche, in the corner, there is a barber. He's awesome. He speaks English, Italian, and French. And he is the best barber I've ever gotten a shave from. He's great.
I forgot the name of the place... But it's right [here](https://maps.google.ca/maps?q=8135+alverne&hl=en&ie=UTF8&ll=45.580034,-73.595092&spn=0.00113,0.002285&sll=45.50867,-73.553992&sspn=0.579371,1.170044&hnear=8135+Rue+de+l'Alverne,+Montr%C3%A9al,+Communaut%C3%A9-Urbaine-de-Montr%C3%A9al,+Qu%C3%A9bec+H1R+2R6&t=m&z=19&layer=c&cbll=45.580034,-73.595092&panoid=SGVK6HotTu0Ds_Yyd2i4cA&cbp=12,336.8,,0,0.32) next to Basha!

there's a barber in peel metro tunnel exiting on stanley , excellent english speaking barber, not over 17-18$.
thechanch replied:
in St-Leo go see Sam at Montreal Barbershop on Viau/Robert (big bald guy, the other two are purely italian guys), Anna is nice too: http://www.montrealbarbershop.com/ best guy ever, small italian style barbershop, ask for an espresso with sambuca while you wait. 16$ cut, amazing hot shave

missjustice replied:
Yikes. In St.Leo, almost every barber I know is an old Italian man who likely only speaks French. I know tons of English-speaking hair salons in St.Leonard though.
WittyIdea replied:
Salon William on Sherbrooke just a 3 minute walk west of the Loyola Concordia campus. Right between Delipat and Sutton apartments. Great cut, $15 dollars, all anglophone. Run by a guy name Zach. //EDIT: Clarification: it's a barbershop, despite the name. He'll understand 5 on top and 2 on the sides.
the_gubernaculum replied:
theres a place called 'Albanese' on st-Catherine near st-marc. Havent been there in a while though
montezume replied:
Just go to a cheap barber shop in China town? They likely will speak English as well as French. Anyways, if what you want is that simple, it should be pretty easy to explain in broken English / french.
dwf replied:
Ste-Catherine and Mackay, "King Kutz", is the cheapest place I've found -- $15 for a haircut. Their staff and clientele is almost exclusively black folks, and all of the pictures of haircuts on the wall feature black people also, so depending on your complexion you may feel a tiny bit out of place, but they do speak English and will happily cut your hair and take your money.
joedilena replied:
Go to any Italian barber in St Leonard... Best bet is Paduano on Jean Talon near Valdombre. Italian people are English and they all live in St Leo...
MrQwertyQwert replied:
In Saint Leonard there is a barber near the corner of Lacordaire and Belanger called "Le Villa", or something along those lines. There was a younger guy and woman that used to work there and spoke English. Unfortunately I forget their names and haven't visited this barber in years, but I bet they still work there. On a side note, I've asked for worse in salons. In my experience (which judging by your post has not been yours) I've always found they gave me the best cut, and it was worth the extra little bit of money. I've been going to a guy called Sandro in the Sun Life building for years. Nicest guy you'll ever meet. Strongly suggest him. It's the only salon in the sun life building (1155 Metcalfe). I can PM you his number.
februaryrich replied:
Try Battambang on Jarry and Pie-IX and ask for Tony. It's cheap but the guy does a good job.
