I work as a special needs consultant and one of my aims is to help parents who have just received a diagnosis to navigate the system while they are waiting for public services. I guide parents to the most effective resources for their child for their family and financial situation. I also provide strategies to help the family in the home. I understand how hard it is to figure out what to do next. You can PM me or check my website. Www.educatemontreal.com

First thing you should do is contact your social worker at the CSSS, he/she will help you with bursaries and grants given from the government, president's choice... Etc to help pay for his speech therapy sessions and OT sessions. Also, get in contact with WIAIH as they will help you with any of your needs or concerns and will be able to point you in the right direction. Pat Roberts center is fabulous as well and is affiliated with WIAIH as well. Also, I cannot stress enough that early intervention with ABA therapy is crucial along side speech therapy.

150% Pat Roberts Center in Saint-Genevieve. The staff there is amazing. My son attended there for three years, and it made a world of difference for him. The staff there is like family, they go above and beyond just their role as an educator to their kids. The coordinator, Lyne, is available in so many ways, and honestly an amazing and caring person and can answer any questions that you may have. I'm a supervisor at Brilliant Beginnings Treatment Centre and mentioned your post to my boss, Brenda. She's a board certified behaviour analyst and would be happy to speak to you if you have any questions about different services available for your son, or if you'd just like a bit of support while you're trying to figure things out. You can give her a call on her cell: 514-708-5437.

I think 60$ is already cheap. I have heard more like 100$ minimum. Being a healthcare professional myself, anything cheaper than 60$ might not be a true speech therapist. Can she put her son on a wait list for public sessions? There's probably a long wait though... CLSC, MCH, Ste-Justine, or any organization that could help out? For example, La Maison de l'Enfance in VSL might for people in that area.
I'm looking for a good speech therapist for adults in Montreal. Does anybody know anyone?
ralida replied:
I know of two really great speech therapists, but they're out in the West Island and I do not know if they work with adults. If you'd be willing to head out there, let me know and I could ask them. Although the [Montreal Fluency Center](http://www.montrealfluency.com/) also specializes in children, perhaps if you called them, they'd be able to recommend a therapist or centre that works with adults?
