Jasmine Grille is great!

Ali Baba at the airport. Take my recommendation for what it's worth, though--I love Mother India.
Nikki B. replied:
Yama and Lavender Cafe are good for Asian cuisine. I like Bombay better than Mother India or Saffron, and their lunch buffet prices can't be beat. They make their naan to order. Yum! I like Chaang Thai, but their prices are a bit steep for quantity, in my opinion.
Also Dirty Bird, for both fried chicken and sandwiches.

Ta-Khrai Thai Cafe

I love The Greeks in the bottom of State on Beechurst for all my Greek food better than Ali Baba now. We have eaten just about everything and it is all amazing.
Joe W. replied:
Yama, Ta Khrai, and Pho Hung (Westover) are my favorite restaurants in town. Phoenix Bakery for bread

I have been disappointed that there is no authentic Chinese/Taiwanese food in Morgantown. But after living here for almost 7 years I have accepted that's just how it is. No, Lavender Cafe is neither authentic or good. They have items that "resemble" the authentic dishes, in names only. They taste nothing like the real thing.
Joe W. replied:
Los Patrones Tacos (they have a new name now that I can't remember) in Washington, PA for the nearest good tacos

Want good Italian? Go to Puglioni's Want good Japanese? Yama and Ogawa Want good Chinese? Lavender Cafe Middle Eastern? Jasmine Grill and Kassar Indian? I enjoyed Saffron, but you might try Mother India if you haven't already

The Montemarte at the top of Hotel Morgan. Its one of only two "fine" dining options in Morgantown since Richwood grill closed. I had a very awesome experience there for my birthday in July. They have a really nice terrace to set on in the summer and their food was very very good. http://www.montmartrewv.com/ordereze/Content/1/Summary.aspx I had the gnocchi and it was amazing. The bruschetta is one of the best appetizers Ive had anywhere. I had a crab soup as the soup of the day and it makes my mouth water now just thinking of it. Avoid Sargasso's(the "other" option). The service sucks. The food is ok but is not the quality that you should get for the price you spend. My boyfriends $38 steak came with a potato rosti side that was clearly made with frozen hashbrowns!! The "wild caught salmon" was definitely farm raised. Hope this helps!!!

There's always Cafe Bacchus.

I enjoy the Dancing Fig, Stefano's, and we haven't been, but I heard Table 9 is good. We have reservations there for valentines. The Brew Pub is good, but there's certainly nothing "fine" about the atmosphere. Sargasso is overpriced. Chang Thai is delicious but again, not something I would consider "fine." There's a new Italian restaurant in the Seneca Center that I heard is amazing. Tropics in Chest Lake has a unique cuisine but again, isn't fancy.

I agree with Jeff Baron, Morgantown really doesn't have fine dining. It has plenty of corporate choices. I've heard good things about Atomic Grill but more like American-fare. Good luck, Pittsburgh maybe a more appropriate choice.
Mary B. replied:
Wheres table 9? Mike Whitten
Jeff R. replied:
The decor isn't "fine dining" but Lavender Cafe (Taiwanese/Chinese/Sushi) on Beechurst is my favorite all around eating experience. The a pretty exotic Asian menu.
Dog lovers: I'm wanting to compile a list of dog-friendly shops, cafes, etc. that allow you to bring a leashed, friendly dog in the Morgantown/Fairmont/Bridgeport areas....
Hanna K. replied:
Some restaurants that have outdoor seating will allow leashed dogs there even if it is an "enclosed area" just have to ask! Also- Home Depot may allow dogs as Lowes does.
Any good Chinese restaurants in Morgantown? Not a take out like Great Wall. Not an all-you-can-eat Chinese Buffet. Looking for a sit down Christmas Day Chinese...
