Can anyone recommend a company for installing a TV over a fireplace? This is definitely not a DIY job, and my friends would just like to pay for having it done right. I...

My buddy Peik (Pike) runs [Sounds Great AV](http://www.soundsgreatav.com/) out of Olympia. He travels all over WA doing installs, and I'm pretty sure it's just him and his wife, and maybe one other install/tech. He handles a lot of installs for Sears, Best Buy, and some other retailers. Their website isn't fantastic, but Peik is a stand-up dude and I'd recommend giving them a call.

Hanging a TV over a fireplace will invalidate your warranty in most cases.

There's a few places. You've got the TV and Fireplace Hut on 3 rd, TVs-And-Fireplaces-R-Us, on 3 rd. Put-Your-TV-There, also on 3 rd. Matter of fact, they're all in the same complex; it's the television and fireplace complex on 3 rd, in the television & fireplace district.

My dad did it himself at his place. Unfortunately I don't know of any contractors, he's does mainly commercial electrical work. I imagine most any contractor that you can find on a Google search will be fine with running the wires and conduit and what not. Mounting the TV shouldn't be too difficult, as long as you have a mount. It's like a two person job.

Licensed/bonded/insured EC, but not interested. What isn't 'standard' about the wall? Simply being over a fireplace doesn't make it that difficult. > definitely **not a DIY job**, and my friends would just like to **pay** for having it **done right**. This is a siren call for contractors, okay, more of a dog whistle really. > but $$$$. This keeps all the good ones away unless it's a friend of a friend/family favor kind of thing.

Jim Dixon@http://www.voodootechs.com/default.html might be able to help. I don't know about the $$$ aspect, but I know Jim, and if he can't help you directly, he will know someone that can.

It's never a good idea to install a TV over a fireplace. Seriously, just think about it for a second.
