There's a restaurant here (just on that corner): https://www.google.co.uk/maps/@19.9075501,99.7935439,19 z?hl=en that's definitely the best I've had in Chiang Rai. The lady who runs it is lovely and we've never had a bad meal there. Her chicken and cashew nuts is amazing!

Ban Lom Jen in Mae Jao has very good Kai Pad Medmamuang also

Moom Mai near corner, Den Ha - Sangklongluang 1 Rd. is an authentic Thai restaurant anf is famous for such dishes. Try also their Panaeng. International restaurant Aye's, opposite the Night bazar is great too. Very well, however more chinese style, will be served in the Thai restaurant at the corner of the Paholyothin - Sanpanard Alley. And indeed. I ate this dish very delicious at Ban Lom Jen in Mae Yao too.

Ask the chef or the manager at Night & Day shop/restaurant. They are both from Myanmar and maybe could do for you.

Thanks Jim... I'm not familiar with that place, but I found something called Night & Day on Google maps - a bit out of town, to the east. The Google map is just showing a rice field where it's supposed to be, but I guess it was built after 2012 when the Google car was there? Or is the map showing the wrong place?

There are some Khaw tom restaurant that they cook food eat with boil rice style, khaw tom Jaa Hee on Thanalai road or khaw tom Naai Num on Tahanalai road both are delicious.
