FRESNO AREA..........HELP I have a dear friend whose dog has an impacted anal gland. He is at the emergency vet and they want $1200.00 to relieve it. DOES ANYONE KNOW...
Sheila C. replied:
We have used South County Vet Hospital in Selma (559-896-8616) near Fresno before. Haven't had to use any vets since moving back to Central California but the reviews look good. I will share to see if any of our local friends have any vets they would recommend. Good luck!
Kim H. replied:
Caryn Gorzo if the anal glad has already ruptured, there is nothing really to fix. Just antibiotics, warm compresses until it heals. If it has not ruptured then warm compresses, and someone who knows how to express the anal glands.
Emergency Vet hospitals are reknowned for charging top dollar, because they know they are the patient's only option on off-hours, and they capitalize on that. Unfair, yes, Unjust, yes.
Sharon H. replied:
I am so sorry for your bad experience, Sharon Canine. VCA Mill Run Animal Hospital of Hilliard, OH has been my one and only vet for 6 years this month. As a small dog rescuer, they have vetted hundreds of dogs I pulled in Ohio and surrounds; and, of ...See More
Sharon H. replied:
Caryn Gorzo - were your friends able to find a vet that could help them? Very sadly, it has been my experience, that there ARE vets only interested in $$$$$$$$$$$$. Abuse of power, for sure. I feel extremely blessed to have a vet that cares more about my dogs. Please let us know how your friends and their dog make out, will you?
Valerie C. replied:
Yes Dr Tracey DuPrez in Fontana...she's excellent.
Can anyone recommend a vet who has experience in whethering adult goats? My sister and I rescued two sweet boys, but we would love them even more if they weren't so...

Dr. Doug Laurence in Murrieta 951-526-8848
Jill M. replied:
Yeah. Dr. Laurence has done a few for me on site. Good time of year to do it because no worry of fly strike. It's no big deal, and right now is when they'll be in rut. Yuck. lol. Wethers are great pets/buddies.
Kate R. replied:
I use Dr Joanne Thatcher.

Dr Drake in Corona, he is a goat specialist. Don't know if it will fix the smell, but I think it would help!!!
Lisa C. replied:
Dr Scott at pellet did mine but he is my regular vet he doesn't normally do them but you could ask.

Pet Medical Center in Temecula is my favorite place for boarding. There's an Emergency Vet in Temecula, not sure the name
Maie M. replied:
CVS is California Veterinary Specialists -- cancer care and other specialists during the day and an emergency hospital at night and holidays. They are GREAT!!!!! There is another that I refuse to rec as I was told my dog was not in life threatening condition and she died an hour later. CVS is down the 215, exit at Los Almos, turn LFT at the top of the ramp, cross the 215 and it's on the right. (They have moved!!!)
I am looking for the best veterinarian in Murrieta... Any recommendations friends?
Alicia J. replied:
I go to Vineyard Vet in Temecula. The woman dr loves our dogs. She's always in the floor cuddling them. Plus she's given us steroids for Ruger's allergies without seeing him one time. Since its a constant problem, she didn't make us bring him in again. I thought that was really nice.
Can anyone recommend a good vet in the Temecula, Murrieta area? I am getting very frustrated with mine. Little Nicky (foster kitten) is having a hard time with an eye...
