Hey, islanders - on the off chance I cut myself shaving (or chainsawing) can anyone recommend a family doctor who's accepting new patients? How about a dentist? Thanks

Dentist - San Mahara right on Wallace Street walking distance from the ferry 250-754-4322. He is good with me and I am a huge baby when it comes to dental stuff.

My guy (dentist) is good! Dr. Darren Biggs https://www.ratemds.com/doctor-ratings/3526206/Dr-Darren-Biggs-Nanaimo-BC.html. MD - I use the clinic, as my MD is in Victoria.
Looking for any family doctor's accepting patients. I have had no luck finding a doctor since i moved to Nanaimo. I need a specialist referral so walk in's will not cut...

I've had this same problem. There's a couple threads about it in the subreddit, most of them not super helpful. Know that any walk in clinic is obligated to act as your GP if you don't have one, but you have to keep going back to the same one if you can. If you whine loud and long enough they may hook you up with a referral.

In case you're unaware, there is this site: https://www.cpsbc.ca/physician_search however it says there are no doctors accepting new patients... pretty ridiculous. Good luck :(

Try checking out http://wallaceclinic.ca/ They've just opened a new office and who knows, they might be taking new patients.

I got referred to a specialist from the walk in clinic at Walmart, so it's possible!

100,000 people and like... four doctor's offices. Pretty ridiculous. I've been trying to find a new doctor for a while because I haven't been satisfied with mine, but I guess there's always the hospital?
EightAlaska replied:
I was actually able to get a referral from dr. Li at Beverly walk in located in Duncan.

My doctor retired 6 or so years ago and I still don't have a replacement.

Is there a standard (or recommended) protocol to get onto the wait list for a family doctor? Or do I need to get my wife pregnant again? (That's how we got our family...

Dr Mackenzie was still taking patients recently.

Dr. Mackenzie is your best bet. Talk to Jessica at his office.
