I would HIHGLY recommend Dr. Stephanie Steel at Townsite Medical Clinic. Both my wife and I find her to be excellent! And she's not much older than you are!
Cathy R. replied:
hmm I remember Dr Steel from work and she was great with patients. Mr Poppy is right she is not very old. I wonder how you could get through the front desk folks and talk with her. Maybe ask to be put on her waiting list for new patients. Tell them that you no longer have a physician who can see you.
does anyone know of a good naturopathic doctor in the Victoria area they could recommend?

A lot of the classics were lost. A little under 40% of the first six years were destroyed in the 60's and 70's, and I think that there was a fire at bbc that destroyed a bunch more. :(

You know that there are different surgeons all around the province with different wait times, right? You can ask your doctor for a referral to any of those surgeons and make an appointment with the surgeon. There's also a list of wait times for surgeries that you can look up the operation and surgeon and see the average time (after you've been seen initially.) https://swt.hlth.gov.bc.ca

That Phoenix quote was pretty good - I had one two years ago in NYC; it was 46K + MRI, physiotherapy etc. I saw (maybe on reddit) a comparison with Spain; which made it look an order of magnitude cheaper
petrolhead replied:
I would be wary of the BC medical system for knee replacements. There is a replacement product out there that is or was the target of a class action lawsuit in the United States, because it would slowly break itself apart inside the leg. It's been banned from use down south but BC is still using them. Or was as of maybe 4 years ago.
STEM_Educator replied:
I've heard that the medical care in Spain is great, and for the price of just the surgery in the US, you can fly to Spain, have the surgery, spend 6 months in rehab, rent an apartment, and not work, and it's *still* cheaper than the US. It's all hearsay, though. My surgery is scheduled for a month from now, and I've spent the past 18 months not being able to walk more than a couple of feet at a time. As far as I know, every person who's had this surgery in my area had to wait up to a year or more to get on the surgical schedule.

What about a different province could temporarily move for surgery.

Did you know we have one who comes to Gabriola once a week? Dr. Passey comes from Ladysmith to the Chiropractic Office in the Professional Building (by the Insurance office). She knows her stuff.
It is getting close to Ice Cream Cart time, but the Gabriola Auxiliary for Island Health Care needs a cart doctor. Is there one on the island who works for ice cream?
