Question from the Inbox ~ Hi all! We are due to PCS to Hurlburt Field in December. I would like recommendations on nice areas to live off base with good school...
Dolli L. replied:
Off base a lot of people like Navarre. There is heavy traffic getting off base and heading west between 330-530 pm so you might want to check that out before committing to living west of base. It tends to be a personal preference. There are also nice subdivisions in Fort Walton Beach, such as Emerald Village. Both school districts (Santa Rosa for Navarre, Okaloosa for FWB and that area) are good.
Jennifer B. replied:
Eileen Olivera is a real estate agent here! She can help you!!
Shirley A. replied:
Okaloosa school District is the way to go. Niceville UMC has a great preschool...Wesley Academy....music and art. OCSD schools has solid fine arts programs in place

Stephanie B. replied:
We just moved here as well and we are buying a house in Gulf Breeze. The area is great but I am not too sure about pre-school's or school's! If you need a realtor, Jodi Van Wagner with Coldwell is AMAZING! She has helped us out so much and has just been a pleasure to work with!
Couldn't get anyone to answer on Navarre mommies 2.0....any of you parents have reviews for the lighthouse private Christian academy? Is there a 3yr old preschool...
Melissa M. replied:
Try Navarre Moms of Teenagers.
Erica O. replied:
Gulf Breeze United Methodist The Children's Place is amazing! My 3 & 4 yr olds attend there. We all love it! We pay $200 a month for 3 days a week for my 3 yr old... Not sure how much after care is...

My kids went there for a time but the after care closes earlier than regular daycares. They loved it but I didn't get off work in time to get them half the time. Curious Apples is where they go now and it's AMAZING. They come home every day with things they've made and new songs they've learned and they don't close until six. I can't speak highly enough of them. My kindergartner was more than ready when she left their VPK program. I didn't have a good experience with Lighthouse when my girls were attending school there either because of Colin. They're doing better in HNPS for sure.
