We have to put our dog down and $200 just seems kind of steep to me. Any recommendations for a more affordable vet for euthanasia? Thanks in advance.
Melinda H. replied:
I just put my Weimaraner down 2 weeks ago going to the navarre Animal Hospital Dr Gina was awesome the euthanasia was $67 and the cremation was 200 but you can choose to do either or but I would recommend dr. G to do that procedure like that again she was compassionate we were in the room she let us hold her and she stayed there and then she gave us a hug afterwards very compassionate veterinarian dr. Gina at Navarre Animal Hospital

I'm sure PAWS, in Fort Walton Beach, can do much better. (850)243-1525.

I have a wonderful Aussie, no bad habits, need to re-home. She is a sweet heart. We are gone too much. All shots, no heart worm in Trifexis. Contact Ferne.clapp@gmail.com
Cathy M. replied:
Call PAWS, they can help. You will be in a private room with your dog during the procedure if you wish (in fact PAWS prefers the owner is there so the animal feels your love and comfort.) I believe the cost is around $50. You can call PAWS at 850-243-1525.

Dr. E at Sounside is the best. Had to put my beautiful Wolfie down on February 13 and he actually came to my house and only charged $75. His entire staff is the best. So sorry for your loss.

I Tina I agree, that was the price I got for having him cremated, and getting the ashes. If the hospital is not Wynn Haven quoting you the price, I would suggest you call Wynn Haven, as I said they will treat your baby with dignity, and totally understand what you are going through.

Wynn Haven Animal Hospital, had my 14 yr old poodle put down and cremated, very sad but pleased with the professional and caring staff.
Sherry M. replied:
Sorry to hear this. We were in the same situation a few months ago. At. Francis helped us. They were very kind and reasonably priced & not our usual vet. We had gone to Eglin AFB vet clinic for all our needs before this need but could not get in w/ them.
Megan J. replied:
Paws, 2431525. Sorry!!
Melinda R. replied:
Are you having the baby cremated? When I had to put my boy down, it was about 1/4 that, I took him to Wynn Haven Animal Hospital. Of course that was in 2010. I am sure if you call they can give you a quote. It is a very difficult situation, and the staff is very understanding, and treat your baby with total respect, as well as the mommy.

Dr. Gina at Navarre couldn't have been any sweeter. She gave him a sedative, put a comforter on the floor and let me lay with my baby until I was ready.
Ashley R. replied:
I just put down our kitty today with dr. Gina at Navarre Animal Hospital. The cost isn't as high if you don't want the ashes. $67 was what I paid, plus cost of other necessary medicines. Final cost around $115.

We have been using Wynn Haven Animal Hospital since we moved here in 2002. They have a team of vet techs and drs who are OUTSTANDING. We just recently had to put my baby of 9 years down with them, little did we know 3 weeks later we'd get paw prints, poems, and his fur via mail. They are so very compassionate. We had very many emergencies over 9 years and they were always so quick to return our calls and tell us what needed to be done and I'd that didn't work call them back. This last visit my lab was semi aggressive and just to keep him calm so they could get an X-ray and a sample of the blood from his abdomen they brought me to the back and had me stand by his head and pet him and talk to him because I was the only thing that could calm him down or that he'd listen to. They have beyond earned our loyalty. If you want a clinic where your pet is known on a first name basis and so are you and you want to be part of a family of gentle caring souls who go above and beyond Wynn Haven is the place to go!! I REFUSE to take my animals anywhere else!!!

Any/all vets charge a office visit fee. Then charge for whatever your pet needs, such as blood work, shots, and any meds your pet may need. I would call them first, to get an idea of charges, before walking in and suffering from "sticker shock"

I have nothing bad to say about any vets in Navarre & there are at least 5. If you're looking for decent prices, unfortunately you might have to look farther than Navarre. I currently use Scenic Hills in Pensacola for annual shots (prices are awesome if you have multiple pets). And this will sound horrible but I take them to Emerald Coast Animal Hospital in Ft Walton for problems (reason has a little to do with price but a lot to do with I connected with the vets there when my cat was really sick)

I'd call Soundside animal hospital. Dr. E is a great vet! I take all my babies there. He has saved my peanuts life a couple of times! (850) 939-6080
Christine H. replied:
The Veterinary Emergency Referral Center on N. Davis Highway in Pensacola (477-3914) used to have a cardiologist, Dr. Sara Bordelon, on staff but she has since moved to veterinary services at Auburn University. She saved our little boy several times. If you are willing/able to make that drive like we did, you wouldn't be disappointed. Otherwise, maybe the VERC (listed above) have since hired a new cardiologist? Veterinary cardiologists are not only very specifically trained but also have the capability & equipment to do specialized procedures i.e. echocardiograms, etc. that your average vet cannot. You're welcome to PM me if you have any questions. My very best to you and your babies!
Catherine N. replied:
I have read that Wynn Haven offers ultrasound and echocardiogram.I believe Dr Westside does this procedure. My little Dachshund has mitral valve disease and enlarged heart. She just started Lasix this morning for a little chest fluid prescribed by Dr Dyson who has been her regular vet but does not have an ultrasound.
