I understand we all have good and bad experiences with doctors and hospitals. Dr. Bassaly treated me so well, with both of my pregnancies. During my first pregnancy, he prevented my son from being born 6 wks early. My son decided he wanted to be born 4 wks early, even though we tried to prevent it. He was a healthy baby, with the precautions that were made ahead of time. Dr. Bassaly performed a cerclage to prevent my second child to be a premie. It worked and she was carried to term. He wanted to see me every week, during the last month of both pregnancies. During all of 2014, I saw several specialists, gastro docs, tests, sonograms, etc...to determine what was wrong with me and causing my pain. Dr. Bassaly is the one who determined the cause...no other doc could figure it out. I knew what it was, but Dr. B, was the only one who listened, believed and agreed with me. I had adhesions attaching my intestines to my abdominal wall and other areas. He and another general surgeon removed them. Then, the lab results showed pre-cancerous cells in the lab report. Dr. B recommended a hysterectomy, one month later. He literally saved my life! I have a huge history of cancer in my family. If this was not recognized this year, next year, I would have cancer. Dr. B. has always been nothing but sweet and acknowledging of my concerns and my life, as well as my children.

Janet F. replied:
Vanessa Anne his name was Dr. Marcella. I lost mine because he let me labor for hours because he wanted WestPenn hospital to take care of me. He was my doctor! RIP Dr. Marcella
Shelley L. replied:
I LOVE Dr. Carlson. Shes on the north hill and amazing. She used to be in with Dr. Palumbo but is now separated from her.
Valerie G. replied:
Kara Ann Jennings yes leslie and Toni are both on my good list. Toni was the nurse that came in at 7 the morning after I suffered all night from the botched medicine order. She did everything she could to help me. But the bottom line comes from the dr. and the nurses hands are tied. Palumbo could of done a million things to make my experience better. She didn't. I trusted her. When I was about 18 weeks, I was high risk from the start, I brought up my birthing plan because I was terrified if I had to have a section my back injury would cause the spinal not to work. She assured me throughout the rest of my pregnancy that she would not let me be in pain. My nightmare came true. The spinal wore off while I was on the table cut open, my vitals went so high I was at stroke/heart attack level, yes they dosed me with fentanyl IV twice, but I knew it was going to happen. Then she ordered dilaudid 2 mg IV every hour through the night because I had no spinal. That order got messed up by a not so good nurse and was changed to morphine 1 mg. First of all, as a nurse myself it should have been atleast 10 mg, but no one told me what I was being given and I'm allergic to morphine!! It makes my pain way worse and I get agitated and anxious. I was screaming and crying all night. Don't you think that nurse should have called palumbo and told her what was going on? I would have even if I thought the order was right. I would of said hey, this is what we are giving her and she is in agonizing pain do you want to change it? She never called. Then when palumbo came in at 8 am, she could have given me something to knock me out for a few hours to get some rest and relief. She didn't. I was in the hospital for 4 days. I didn't sleep for even 10 mins.
