New Haven Vets?? Recommendations on a local vet for my dog Anyone have any recommendations or any heads up on places to avoid in terms of a vet for my dog?
Thanks!

I use East Haven Veterinary Associates. I have a cat, not a dog, but they seem like a capable and courteous bunch. The office is clean and organized and the people are friendly. I endorse it!

Little bit of a drive but Milford Vet. Hospital is the best I have ever been to. Very clean and the staff is just great. Best kennels for overnight stays and rates are reasonable. I have had dogs and cats all my life and I have taken them to more then a few places. I use to bring one of my dogs all the way out to Bethany before I found this place and have been happily bringing my animals there ever since.

Montowese Veterinary Clinic. I've been to a ton of vets all over the country and some are kinda new age and spendy, always trying to sell you extras. Dr Breu is an old school vet who knows cats and dogs, doesnt get nervous around dogs like some vets and has never pushed me into extras. Her substitute vet is great as well. Didnt like Millpond in Branford .

[Vet Associates of Westville](http://www.westvillevet.com/) on Whalley. I took my 1 year old mutt there for all of her booster shots and what-not. They were great.

We go to Pet Shield in North Branford as they were who originally took in the former bait dog we rescued and they do a lot with New Haven animal control. For someone closer, VCA in East Haven is great, Dr Schmidt is awesome.

West haven animal clinic on Campbell ave. is great. Maybe 10 minutes from downtown new haven.
Where do you take your pets?I'm looking for a good vet for a sick cat.....anyone?

I've been using ridge hill A.H. over in Hamden ever since i moved up here, they're pretty fantastic. 430 State St, North Haven, CT 06473 (203) 288-3307

I use West Haven Animal Clinic (on Campbell Ave opposite VA hospital). I take my dog there and my neighbor takes her cats there. However a woman up the street said there's a vet in Derby that is cheaper and just as good.
Nancy M. replied:
We go to Mt. Carmel veterinary. Dr. Farrell.
Adrienne W. replied:
Yes, Dr. Mariano@Ridgehill.

Ridgehill Animal Hospital on State St. in North Haven, just after Montessi VW saved me THOUSANDS on Roswell when she had diabetes. The place is like Club Med for cats. She used to cry in the car when I was taking her HOME. Seriously the best vet I have ever used. Separate waiting areas and treatment areas for dogs and cats. Can't say enough good things about the place.
Shamar M. replied:
The one place that I would recommend to NOT bring your pets to is Animal Haven on mill road in North Haven. Worst care ever!
Laurie J. replied:
Shamar Marciante. Will remember that. Thank you.
Kathryn H. replied:
Laurie, go to Spring Glen on Whitney Ave. We have used them for years.
Missing my small female cat Since July 24th! Lost in the exit 8 new haven area. Can possibly be around MIDDLETOWN AVE, CROSS ST, WEYBOSSET AVE, GANDO DR OR AROUND...

Sherry Gonzalez White.....your kitty is still missing, correct?

Someone should help Sherry! I don’t think threatening the friend will work. But getting the person who said they saw the friend dumping the cat at the vet parking lot needs to get in the same room as the friend with the conflicting story. Jeeze, if they would only tell the truth, it would be so helpful for you. Plaster BOTH areas with flyers, and go there and call, look under porches, shake a treat jar or pouch (if she liked those things), be careful yourself though! Cats do run out of houses when they are scared, the same thing happened to my sister’s cat when she left it at my parents’ house.

It's not in New Haven but close in North Haven - I highly recommend Ridge Hill. They are the kindest, most caring vet I've ever been to. Sometimes they're running a little behind with appointments but they make up for it in other ways. We had to put our beloved dog down a couple weeks ago due to an illness we discovered in January and had been dealing with since - we were in there a lot. They're understanding, friendly and the doctors are knowledgable.

Do you need a vet for a dog or a cat? If it's a cat, I highly recommend New England Cat Care in the Westville section of New Haven (near the Merritt Parkway). They are a cat-only vet. No barking dogs in the waiting room equals a less stressful visit for your kitty! If it's a dog, I like Dr Q at Foxon Vet in East Haven. He is off exit 8 from I-91.

Any good veterinarian recommendations in the New Haven area?

I've been a fan of Central Vet on State st. They've been great for both Magnum and Biscuit these past 6 years. Also, they just upgraded their facilities! (Though it's going to make them farther away, in North Haven).
Got a beautiful sympathy card from my vet today. He gave me the Rainbow Bridge poem along with Forget Me Not flower seeds. I cried of course. They are wonderful. If...
