Does anyone have any suggestions how to keep my 2 year old tubie from pulling at her GJ button all the time? I've done belts, onesies, and punishment. Nothing is working...

(Traci) What kind of belt did you do? Because the Benik belt would be pretty impossible for a 2 yr old to go through. It is made of neoprene and the velcro on the cover is pretty industrial. http://www.benik.com/peds/wrap/g-tube -- in the interim I would do an ace bandage because you can wrap it so there isn't spaces for little hands to get in. I would also try giving her a stuffed animal or doll with a tube in it so she can play with that. There are non profit groups that provide those for children and it is pretty easy to make your own. http://www.feedingtubeawareness.org/StuffedPals.html
From Jayne Coulthread:

From a mom:
Any recommendations for a good home health company for enteral supplies and Elecare in NY state that takes straight Medicaid as primary insurance?

Unfortunately we are in Suffolk county too. It's the black hole of good DME Providers. We have always had to use multiple suppliers to get what we need. Our formula ships direct from the pharmacy but we use MedStar Surgical for our enteral supplies. I don't know if they take Medicaid. 1 (718) 460-2900. They are out of Queens I believe. We have yet to find a great supplier in Suffolk.
HI Tubie friends! I have a question for everyone. My son is 3 years old and very very very active. I am in search of a g-tube protective belt. All I have been able to...
Feeding A. replied:
(Traci) I think you are talking about the Benik belt. It is the only one made of neoprene with the turtle shell option - all the others are made of fabric. If an OT or PT orders the Benik belt, it may be covered by insurance. You may want to contact Benik directly for details - http://www.benik.com/peds/wrap/g-tube
Anyone have to use Simply Thick to thicken their foods or their LO food to nectar consistance? Where do you go through to get it? I am running out of places to find it....
Feeding A. replied:
(Traci) The Simply Thick website lists distributors and home health companies that should have it - http://www.simplythick.com/3496E8E8-EC99-456C-A85953FE5F7AF2C1 -- Let me know if this helps or not... because we can also ask the group.
