Contractor/studio types: what is the best and most awesome way to sound-proof a room to the outside world? I want to be able to make loud noise at 3 AM with no problems....

Roofing Felt. BEST alternative to $$$ Mass Loaded Vinyl. Also, leave space between 2 5/8 drywall. Acoustic Caulk is a must. Regular caulk works too.
