Yes, I had a handyman come to redo both mine Friday -bought them at Home Deopt (and they sell a less wide election at Kelly's) and the guy essentially popped the back off the wall, made sure batteries were in, checked the two wires from the wall to the back, and stuck the front piece on and voila.
I have an electrician emergency. Half our house is shorting out and not tripping the fuse. Does anyone have a name for someone who I can get on a Saturday?

I had good success with Knight Daley Electric 41 Bennett Hill Road Rowley, MA 01969 978-432-1141 Owner is Bill Knight, he did a really good job, upgrading my service panel, added outlets in my basement workshops, and adding network in my office, reasonable rates, high recommended, hope this helps.

Not sure that is fair. It's a fire hazard. Electricians don't want to take the blame if they miss something. Just because you have a "modern" fuse box doesn't mean all of the original knob and tube is gone.
