I've heard fantastic things about southpaws in Fairfax. (703) 752-9100. Also, I live in northern Virginia and work in the medical field. If you need help fostering a recovering dog, I can absolutely do so. I don't have any dogs or cats at home now so there wouldn't be any excess excitement smile emoticon . Just lmk
Karen W. replied:
I live in Arlington and use Suburban Animal Hospital for the past 20 plus years. Pets treated and requiring hospital stay, stay there. It can't hurt to call. I also used South Paws which is close to my office, for cancer chemotherapy for my cat.

For Hampton Roads I would consider Bay Beach in VA Beach. You can also call Hope for Life Rescue and see who they use. They may know a vet willing to give them a break on cost.
Sheila M. replied:
Ballston Animal Hospital on Wildon Blvd and McLean Animal Hospital in McLean.

We use Bellevue Animal Hospital. They are awesome. I can't say enough nice things about them. Last time my kitty got sick it was a friday afternoon and after seeing him with no notice the doc gave me his cell phone number in case there were any issues over the weekend so I could avoid an emergency vet bill. The staff there just always seems happy and loves animals. I always see flyers that they will check in on your animals if you go on vacation too.

I use Dr Heineke in Alexandria off of 27. He's extremely comprehensive but a little pricey. An exam is around $35.

Ft. Thomas Animal Hospital is amazing. It isn't in Newport but only a few minutes away.

I like Dr. farts in ludlow, ky. He works out of a trailer, but he's totes safe.
Can anyone recommend a good vet in Newport please? (We still travel 20 mins down the motorway to ours in Cardiff but would like one a bit closer) x

Marlow vets have wonderful new surgery with all modern facilities in Chepstow and also branch in Magor. All staff very caring have looked after my cat for many years. I wouldn't go anywhere else .
Mad M. replied:
You are lucky to be in Newport - I am with SummerDale and SummerWood for my own animals, and the main thing that tempted me to move besides the fact they are fab, was the fact they run their own 24/7 365 days a year emergency cover with vets and nursing staff onsite all the time from their Newport branch - SummerHill https://www.facebook.com/SummerhillVeterinaryCentreLtd
Lyndsay M. replied:
Summerhill Veterinary Centre - used them all my animal owning life - and so did my parents.

Quick question. I'm hoping to book a dentist now after Christmas for a check over. But with my mare being so hot headed, winding up very quickly and being a general...
Sam M. replied:
Try Andrew Gardener. He is very good and very quite. He kept my old mare so calm that she didn't have to be sedated at all. Don't know how he does it but he's fab:-)
Marina B. replied:
A few people up farm recommend Sarah at Abbey Vets who does sedation and teeth xx
Melanie T. replied:
Sarah Carr from Abbey Vets can sort teeth and sedate. It's a bit more expensive than using an equine dentist but she does a fab job and it sounds like it will be a safer option for all concerned.
Anyone recommend a good rescue vet or vet that will give rescue prices for our new whelping Mamma Merry, in the Campobello, SC 29322 area? She will be moved there...
Beth S. replied:
I know a vet in Landrum, SC (near Campobello), has done some boarding and initial vetting for rescues. Probably worth calling them...I think they are called Landrum Veterinary Hosp. There can't be many in Landrum, if that isn't the name.
Newport Animal Hospital. I've heard that some people feel they overcharge, but I have never felt that way and they do a great job. They also have a number of locations on the island and in Jamestown so they usually have availability!
