What are some great termite control companies in KC? I just recently found out my home has termites indoors. We have never had to call pest control services of any sort...

We use Weaver's & Son's A-OK Exterminators. Treat once a year and haven't had issues since. Knock on wood.

ChemTech is my go to. Ask for Josh. Generally speaking, if you are paying less then about $600 you aren't getting real termite treatment, you are getting bait systems that don't really work. There is a particular chemical that's needed (can't remember the name) thats expensive. If they aren't using that, you are getting ripped. Had a retired termite exterminator educate me on it once a few years ago. He wasn't selling me anything and didn't recommend anyone, just told me what he knew and said good luck!

augustine is great. super nice, quick, and they fixed the issue without upselling.

All homes around here have evidence of termites, if the house stands long enough. So most real estate agents in town know a local exterminator who works cheap and offers a guarantee. That’s how they close deals when termite show up on an inspection. Ask a few for recommendations. The termites can hide from the most expensive exterminators. You get the best results from multiple, successive applications. No one will promise to get rid of all of them in one shot. Still, I would NOT pay for the eternal bait systems and service contracts. You could pay someone small and local for a dozen years of visits for the price of the “system.”

Evolution Pest Management went out of their way for us. As a local business owner myself I was super happy to have such a well mannered, informative, and locally owned business take care of me.

Dynamite Pest Management. Noland is great!

Same happened to me! I'm currently getting some quotes. So far Ecopest Services LLC and Rottler Pest Solutions seem to cost the same for the same treatment plan.

We just had our home treated for termites by Scout Pest Elimination and were extremely happy with their service, attitude and support. [http://scoutpestelimination.com/](http://scoutpestelimination.com/)

WB Pest - Brian Williams owns it & does the work himself. Hard worker, very thorough & a fair price. I don’t remember the exact details, but his guarantee was better than others I looked at.
WillowWorker replied:
check out domyown.com Obviously pay for the pest control but check what they use, if it works consider dropping a little more money for termidor or whatever and a pump sprayer. Could help you keep things under control after the initial treatment.

I just had Augustine out last week for an inspection after finding flying termites inside the house. They were quick to respond to contact request on their website and had someone out the next day. The application is charged by linear ft around the house. My house is 181 linear feet (about 2100 interior sq ft) and including having to drill a couple holes in front patio concrete (and refilling), treatment ended up being around 1200 bucks. Really happy with them all around.

Get quotes from other companies and compare. Homes, what's covered, and prices vary.

We pay $265/yr for a centricon retreat/repair bond through Arrow
gtbuzzed replied:
That’s about normal. Call Massey Services and have them quote it.
ham_wallet replied:
i pay $295/yr thru arrow. My FMV is higher too so you got a good deal. My house is built in 1920 though.

I bought a house last year and whatever bond the previous owner had, that company is now telling me they're going to come dig up their traps if I don't pay $300. I'm half annoyed that was how they initiated first contact and may DIY, after making them prove that I somehow have to abide by an agreement I didn't sign. I've been looking at DIY traps and it's about $275 for initial setup, followed by low cost maintenance after that. Anyone followed this path?
Gsince87 replied:
I bought in Reynoldstown last year. The previous owners had Arrow. I called around and found cheaper options. I settled on Green Queen. I’m going off memory but I think maintenance is only $200 a year for the bonding.
bannana replied:
After the first treatment you don't need any more - most termite service is a racket. Keep you yard clean, inspect under your house, don't store wood next to your house or under the house.
FilcoRumHam replied:
$250-300 is pretty normal. If you’re handy and don’t plan to sell anytime soon you can get the needed chems from domyown.com. Also arrow is legit, but be wary that companies claiming to have a bond on your new home is one of the latest scams. I received a letter that was pretty convincing “Please contact us regarding your termite bond, 60 day deal to transfer the existing bond into your name for $550 otherwise it’s $1250” sort of thing, it was worded in a manner to imply that they held the bond. In reality it was with another company who transferred it no charge with a $175 / year re-treat.

Do you’re own. Domyown.com has Bifen IT for sale and plenty of videos to apply and it’s way cheaper than paying for a service.

Stay away from Bug out, they use to be a quality company but we've been having issues for 6+ months now. We've even pointed out the issues on multiple visits and nothing about their service is improving. Looking at switching services right now as well.
DIY pest control (bats / rodents / bugs)? Hi all!

Get some caulk and expanding foam and start walking around the house. Seal up any entry point you can see. Pay attention to the trim around doors and windows. Make sure all the vent screens are intact. Replace any that are bent or torn.
Inside the house, open up the cabinets below any sink and make sure that the entry/exit point for any pipes or ducting going through walls are sealed.
Finally, take some caulk and seal the tops of all the baseboards and the sides of any door casings.
Take those steps and you'll stop the majority of bugs and rodents.
For Elder bugs, get rid of ALL the leaves around your home. When spring hits, get rid of the seed pods ASAP. Take away their food and they'll go somewhere else. They'll eat any leaf; maple, oak, ash, etc. Also, you can buy some year long pest control stuff for your trees. They sell liquid and granules. It helps because the elder bugs breed in the trees, under the bark or any hidden crack. But getting rid of the food source is key.
Edit: for what it's worth, I take all these steps and still have pest control for outside my home. We get wolf spiders and black widows every where and I like hanging out in my backyard without spiders. You *can* spray the outside yourself. If you have bad rodent problems, get a cat. They really work.

Google diy pest control. I use this site to buy all the pesticides. Don't buy big box's chemical, they are weak. I buy mine from domyown.com. No, I don't work fro them. They sell chemicals that are used by pros.

Bora Care is great for treating wood against insects. Somewhat expensive (can find online for 75 a gallon, which dilutes to 2) but has good coverage and long lasting protection. The local “all natural” pest people quoted us 10 k to treat the whole house with it, with boracare can DIY for under 1 k.
