So looking for dining advice from you guys... what do you all recommend for a semi-fancy restaurant in the area.... one that maybe would still have some openings for...

I like to use opentable.com. You can read reviews, check menus and get a feel for restaurant as well as make a reservation. The Turf Room will reserve you a fire side table if you don't want to drive far. Also Catch 35 in Naperville is great for seafood. Lots of nice places on 3 rd St in Geneva--Wildwood is another one (besides Niche). Be sure to go to the Chocolate Kitchen for dessert:) HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!!!!!

If you like Italian food and don't mind driving to St Charles, we like ZaZa's Italian Restaurant. St Charles has renovated the area around there and it is very nice.:) Happy Anniversary!
