Bicycle Links, now on King Street. They fixed a gear problem on my bike that had confounded 3 other shops. Their prices are really good, too. http://www.bicyclelinks.org.uk/

Can anyone recommend where to go to look for electric bikes or motorised bikes? Thanks.

I understand the need to get back to cycling. I am an old man with asthma and diabetes, both of which have been a hindrance to exercise. The key things to look at in a bike are battery life, in Wh (Watt/hours), the higher the better. Then think about whether or not you want to be able to just twist a throttle and go,in which case have a look at Woosh bikes. Bear in mind that they are legal in this country, but not most of Europe. The bikes with "twist and go" will also have pedal assist. True pedelecs do not have the twist and go feature, like my Kalkhoff. However, I can go anywhere on this bike, up any hill around here that I have tried, and if I try really hard, can do about 80 miles on a charge (612 Wh battery). But it was quite expensive. However, bike repair shops that handle them suggest that e-bikes are used about 10 times more than normal cycles, ie, people are more likely to ride for fun and commuting. So build quality is an issue. Kalkhoff don't have any dealers near us unfortunately. They are made in Germany, and imported by 50Cycles, who have a few physical branches, but I ended up buying on line. It was very quick, and they do have a return period. Or try http://www.fakenhamelectricbikes.co.uk/, who seem to have a range of bikes, although i have not tried them myself. Cycles UK, within Jarrolds, now hold a couple of models, as do the Halfords off shoot Cycle Republic, and the place at the bottom of Prince of Wales Road. However, how much they actually know about the market and the product is probably debatable. Specialist e-bike shops are better for this.
