Sandra Simpson Re/Max About Towne, she's a great agent and donates a portion of her commission to the Oakville Humane Society, so the sale of your home, helps a homeless animal still waiting for one!

Renting in Mississaga I'm looking for some info on renting a place in Mississauga. We would need 2 rooms and for it to be pet friendly, but neither of us know the city...

A few things that may help: It might be helpful to know where you're looking. Prices vary by area. I've found generally prices for 2 bedrooms are 1500-2500. Generally, I would avoid the area around Dundas and Hurontario For renting, it's usually pretty easy to find a place on Kijiji, but things move super fast. I found that posts more than 7-8 days old were usually gone. Note that if you are renting, your landlord cannot stop you from having a pet, but they can charge you for any damage your pet causes. Even if they have a no pets clause in your rental agreement, it isn't enforceable. This does not necessarily apply to condos.

I saw use a realtor. Ask friends or Facebook and see if anyone recommends anyone. You don't pay for their services so it's even free. Keep in mind realtors only have access to condos and houses/townhouses, no rental buildings.
RecklessRancor replied:
So for #4 I would probably avoid, Dundas/Hurontario, Winston Churchill/The Collegeway Hurontario/Dundas for obvious reasons. Shitty area with a lot of crime happening in Mississauga happening there, also really noisy. Winston/College for the amount of places there a lot of them are really expensive and don't offer a lot. Also a few places my brother has been living at, have had mold that the landlord hid. For the others I don't have much too offer. Maybe #2 if you are looking for 2 bed/1 bath, you could look at 850-1700 range depending the area. If you are looking for 2 bed 2 bath it goes up to 1000-2200 in price.
darksoldierk replied:
1. I used "viewit" when I was looking for places.
2. Prices will vary. If you are okay with living in a basement apartment, you could be looking at 900-1100. If you want a condo, probably in the 1700 range. You can get an apartment for 1000-1350, all depending on the area, of course.
3. I think that going through the realtor is a good idea, I've never gone through one so I can't recommend anyone.
4. As others have said, avoid dundas and Hurontario. Also, be very very careful of the queensway and hurontario area, when I was looking, the landlords were very shady and the places had mold. If you are thinking about port credit, just keep in mind that it gets very loud on the weekends, especially in the summer.
Hope this helps.

There are many rental buildings on Mississauga Valley Blvd and Elm Drive area. Most of them are Morguard buildings and a couple of them are Kaneff. Kaneff does not allow pets. While Morguard allows pets. Other than that you can rent from the private condos around square one.
QuadrigaCX replied:
Whatever you do, avoid the property management company "Daniels Gateway". They are an absolute disaster and will break the rental laws pretty badly. I previously rented a condo from them and ended up taking them to the tenants tribunal (and won) after they repeatedly broke Ontario's laws.
