For my hormone issues, I go to Christine Farrell in Westlake Village. Yes, it's a schlep but no one in this area, has a real clue on hormones. Seriously. Not being negative, it's a fact. A bit closer is Martha Gonzalez but I was not that pleased with her either. Christine is an awesome lady and knows her hormone stuff. I use Mary Evans for all my other stuff. Love her.

Dr. Robin Bernhoft here in Ojai helped me with my hormone issues and I think he now has a woman on staff that specializes in bio-identical hormones. Definitely recommend and he is here in town!

Dr. Kafka here in Ojai has helped me so much. Just with supplements he has helped keep me steady. He also understands about adrenal and thyroid issues and he knows a lot about bio-identical hormones if you want to go that direction.

Deborah Maragopoulis is a nurse practitioner and is highly knowledgeable about internal medicine, women and hormone issues. On the down side, she charges a lot. Still, she's the best I've ever found and knows more than most MD's, imho.

I just asked this question a few weeks back and went to Dr. Viktoriya Nelson, Internal Medicine (thank you Leslie Ferraro) I checked her background and liked that she got her board certification in 2011 instead of 1977 or 1986. So far I am very pleased. My first visit, I have had extensive blood work done, a mammogram, ekg, pap smear, and the regular exams and a follow up visit, all in less than a week. No waiting times and she is thorough, takes her time with you and always asks if you have any concerns or questions. She is part of the Centers for Family Health, CMH here in Ojai 805-640-2296

Yes Moses Kravitz the first doctor we were with charges a $35 same day visit charge and the patient has to pay it - Dr. Halverson's office charges it to the insurance company but doesn't force the patient to pay it. I find it ludicrous to impose a same-day fee on patients.

I had medi-cal with my now 3 year old and saw Dr Crownover in Ventura at Centers for Family Health. He was absolutely amazing! However, it's who is on call that delivers you at CMH.

Check to see if Dr Barnes is taking Medi-Cal. She used to. She is by far the most amazing OB Dr.! She delivers her own babies.

Dr Cole and Dr Coyles offices both have midwives, my insurance covered the midwife because the doctors office took that insurance. If you are truly seeking the midwife experience thats the best way to go about it or like Kim Rivers said above many midwives are licensed providers themselves, doesnt hurt to ask. I had 3 children and my last was delivered using a midwife at CMH in Ventura and it was the by far the best birthing experience. Good luck and congratulations!

I didn't have dr.Barnes as my obgyn through my pregnancy but she was the on call doctor the night I went into labor and she was amazing!!! I had a completely different birth experience because of her. She was so calm and on top of things. I wish she would have been my obgyn the whole time. I had a completely different experience with my first labor and delivery and it was horrible. I would recommend Dr.Barnes!
