I had the same problem tried all kinds of sprays and other items. They worked for awhile. I called Ojai Termite and they were pricey. So I call Terminex as a friend suggested and they were a lot better on the price. So I did a one year contract. They came and inspected the home for termites even and did their thing, I haven't seen a ant or spider since. They come every 3 months, If you see any ants in the home during the 3 month time, you call them and they will come back at no charge and take care of them again. I couldn't even leave any food or even crumbs on my counters. Within min's the ants were. Especially fried chicken. Now I can leave stuff on the counters with no problems. We have TONS of both black and brown already here on Grand, I am using Pest Brothers from Ventura. They have done the black widow spray for us down there a while ago at work, and I haven't seen any since.

Spray Lysol in a can around your doors and windows. I kid you not, no spider will cross the line. I sprayed a wolf spider once in Arizona with Lysol and 17 million of her babies jumped off her back and scurried all over the floor. I THOUGHT I WAS GOING TO DIE. On another note... Spiders aren't something you want to have to disclose to a buyer. Lol

Our company's exterminator suggested I use Ortho Home Defense around all doors and windows, and repeat a couple times a year. Seems to work- i'm right there with you abt spiders.
