Calhoun County Humane Society in Port Lavaca, Texas urgently needs rescue and foster help for kittens and cats. They are in the area hit directly by Hurricane Harvey near Rockport and this county includes the small cities of Seadrift, Point Comfort and Port O'Connor. From a Houstonian,,,see attached list: Hello FB Friends- Please share!!! I'm sure everyone is getting tired of seeing posts in regards to Harvey but here's one more. I spent almost four years in Houston dedicating every spare moment I had to helping the homeless dog and cat populations in the city. It kills me not to be there to help those displaced by the storm, especially those that have their fur kids with them. So, I came up with a list of rescues that are 100% legit and need help! George R Brown convention center is one of the main shelters allowing people to bring their pets with them. They're required to have a kennel and a leash which rescue organizations are making sure they have. Supplies are running out quickly (especially kitten and puppy specific food/formula, & kennels) and they need MONETARY donations. Rescued Pets Movement and BARC animal shelter are 2 of the main groups tending to these people. Miranda Lambert's rescue, Muttnation, Austin Pets Alive, Safe K9 Transport, and Dallas DogRRR are groups that are transporting animals out of Houston by the buss load (literally). Tall Tails is a rescue and boarding facility that was housing over 130 animals on their property. These are also really good friends of mine... they lost everything over the last few days. They spent the last two nights in a park with all their animals. I have made up a list of rescues/shelters that I know and trust that desperately need help for themselves and rescues that are helping others. If you can spare your coffee money for one day I know it will go to good use. If you have any questions about specific groups and how they're helping please ask!
