[Video](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GKJONOgG2 lw) of how to diagnose what the check engine light is telling you on those cars. I figure if you're driving something like that you don't have a lot of extra cash to put towards a mechanic. Plus, maintaining your own equipment grows character.

Tenino is a nice little town:) Have you talked to the NAPA guys in town? They used to check what the light meant and then give you some feedback on what code reads out. If they won't (call them first?), any AutoZone will check it so you have an idea what's up, and if you're handy you may be able to fix it yourself. [Here's a link](https://www.toyota.com/owners/resources/owners-manuals/camry/1996#) to the 1996 owners manual for your ride on the Toyota site. I know you said Oly or further south, but I recommend talking with Alan at [Automotive Artistry](https://www.automotiveartistry.com) in Lacey. He'll answer the phone if you call (unless he's at lunch), and once you know what's up with the check engine light and decide you need help, he'll be able to give you honest details on the cost and time to repair it. Good luck!!

Walt's in Yelm is great. I've been bringing my car there for 3 years now. They're very knowledgeable. Straight forward about their service, fair prices and quick turn arounds.

I use Scott McNeil who has a shop at a church on the West side. However, he sings for Redeem The Exile and might be on tour. He's someone you can trust.

Denise... Bron Lindgren is a friend, a client, and my personal mechanic. Watch the video on his home page and you will understand why. If Bron can't do what you need he can point you in the right direction. I trust him without hesitation!
Who's got the best deal right now on a complete oil change including filter? Looking for a shop or Licensed Mechanic.
Colleen M. replied:
Kathy Jo.. That is probably exactly why you have never had an issue.. You stay there.. Everybody I know (me included) like to be able to drop the vehicle off, and get on about our day and get other things done while the car is being worked on.
Colleen M. replied:
call Foster's Automotive, and I know my brother Jerry charges I believe $20 for filter/oil and disposal out the door... But call Terry Foster first at Foster's Automotive.
where ever you go.. DO NOT.. I repeat.. DO NOT go to Jiffy Lube!!! They are well known for causing many issues to your vehicle and making the engine seize. It has happened to many of my friends vehicles after going there.. I know a couple people who used to work there, and they purposely do things to the engine to make you come back for more work.
Kathy J. replied:
Wow, we've been going to Jiffy Lubes for 20 years and never an issue...
Kathy J. replied:
In fact, I've never even heard of a single person I know having issues and quite a few also use Jiffy Lubes and we've used Jiffy Lubes in different states, too... never had issues, in fact, I like being able to drop in and get fluids topped off and air whenever needed. PS: How awful for your friend, gosh that is terrible! I wonder how an oil change could seize an engine, though... I also watch them when they are doing it... I'm just nosey like that, LOL
