Trustworthy used car dealerships? I'm new to Omaha and looking to pick up a used car (a minivan, specifically). I'm hoping to not spend too much, and I've had almost...

Well, it doesn't qualify as a small dealership, but I was pretty impressed with CarMax recently. I bought a new car from another dealership and sold my trade-in to CarMax since they offered me significantly more money for it. I chatted with a salesman while I was there, and they really seem like a different kind of dealership.

Oh, stay AWAY from "Good Cars For Nice People" on 42 nd and L. They sell nothing but death traps.

I would never go anywhere but Carmax to buy a used car. I've gone there 5 times and never had a single issue. I've gone to other used car dealers 3 times and EVERY time I get a piece of crap

What type of minivan are you looking for? I am the sales and finance manager for Nelsons Preowned Autos on 90 th & L. You can read our reviews on cars.com. I also offer a redditor discount :)

it's kind of a crapshoot because 99% of people that sell cars will fuck their mom over for $5, whether it's a mom and pop lot or a big dealership. unless you can find a mechanically inclined friend to look over a car you like for at least an hour, you are just going to have to take your chances with 0 or 30 day warranty.

Gene Steffy in Fremont. Our used car bought a couple years ago is still running great.

What about the Todd Archer Cash Car lot? They sound like they would be up your alley.

There are a lot of small corner dealerships, the sort with a dozen cars in a small parking lot. I'd avoid all of those, and go to a big dealership with a used car section. I bought a used car at Beardmore in Bellevue a couple years ago, and it was a great experience. They do no-haggle pricing on quite a few of their used cars, which makes the whole process pretty painless and efficient. Everyone was friendly and the car has been great.

Do. Not. Go. to Prime Auto at 84 th and Park in Ralston. I got so ripped off. I was naive and didn't get the car checked out but they got me good.

I got a nice little car that ran for a good number of years (until my younger sister, car inheritor, ruined it) from Beardmore used cars down on Fort Crook road in Bellevue. I know my former boss got a still running car from them too some years back.

Check woodhouse in Blair. Their website has all their vehicles. Should be plenty for under 10 k. Woodhouse is one of the biggest dealerships in the Midwest has a mega variety. For sure check woodhouse.com before pulling the trigger on something. Sid Dillon is also another dealership I recommend.
