Can anyone recommend a great family doctor? We are a family of 4 with 2 young children and we are (fairly) new to the area. Thanks!

Dr. Akula in Grand Valley (she is also at the Rolling Hills clinic in Orangeville, near the hospital). The GV number is 928 5666, but I'm not sure of the O'ville number. We love her:)

Dr. Palad is amazing but she is not taking new patients I tried to switch from my doctor that is very disrespectful to her and she said she couldn't take me on. I am so disappointed.

We are with orangeville family Medical and there is a large team of dr so if you need to see someone and your dr isn't available you will get in no matter what. They also have clinic hours only available to patients. Monday-thurs 4-7 I believe and Saturday mornings. They are amazing with getting kids in , I've been squeezed in last second tons of times with my newborn and my 3 yr old when the concern is urgent :) and Kathy the receptionist is fabulous !! They are in Elizabeth street by the old hospital I'm not sure if they are taking new patients but you can call and ask 5199388000. Dr palad is my fav. Wish she was taking patients I'd jump to her in a heart beat :)
Stephanie D. replied:
Call Health Care Connect(1-800-445-1822) they may be able to let you know who is accepting new patients
Ashley D. replied:
I want to get rid of my family doctor (not good with kids, never available and rude reception). I would love to be with Dr.Ahmed. She's been great with my son when we've met her in the past. Only problem is once you have a doctor it's really hard to leave and get a new one so hopefully you find the right fit!!
Jaime S. replied:
Dr. Derksen is great! He's in the building on Elizabeth Street as well

Dr Bariana in the Brenda Plaza has been amazing to me and my kids. He is young and willing to listen and really get to the bottom of the problem.
Pennie Y. replied:
Dr. Ponke is my my doc....he's good. His office is down Hwy 10, near Caledon, in his house. Not sure if he is accepting new patients but you could give him a call !
Joanne F. replied:
Only doc in O'ville accepting is Dr. Awad. If you have friends/family at a local doc that they like, see if they can get you in (that's how I've found all of my family docs over the years). The MOHLTC no longer considers O'ville "under serviced" so no new docs can be expected for some time. They wouldn't consider it financially viable.
Jackie R. replied:
Not exactly local but amazing dr is Dr Anderson in Erin. Office located right beside the new Tim Hortons on the bend.
Louise C. replied:
Call Orangeville hospital and they have a list of doctors taking new patients
Sarah W. replied:
Call Highlands Health Network, the thing is a lot of doctors are a part of a team. I believe they're still taking names for Dr. Charlie Joyce. You'll be his patient and the benefits of being with a team is if it's an urgent matter (cough, flu, fever, etc) you can be seen by any doctor in that team who is doing an evening clinic etc. Your doctor will be your doctor and know your personal business, as the urgent clinics do not treat ongoing issues, that will be strictly up to your doctor and/or specialists involved
Rebecca S. replied:
The issue with Doctors nowadays is that they can only get paid so much so their hours are reduced and some even just work half of the year because it makes sense to them. So you'll see many places where doctors work as a team for this very same reason. http://www.ctvnews.ca/mobile/health/ontario-doctors-crying-foul-over-upcoming-fee-cut-1.2578338
Matt M. replied:
Contact the Highlands Health Network, beside the hospital. Kelli and I were able to get on a list and were successful in getting a family doctor after just a short wait. Not sure if they're still accepting new patients at this time, but it might be worth the call.
Ryan T. replied:
Dr.Bariana he's in the pharmasave in the Brenda plaza on Broadway Really awesome guy !!
Our family doctor is Dr. Mori on first street. Private practice. By far the best doctor I have met! Very thorough and listens to your concerns/suggestions, isn't afraid to tell you how it is! He has a bit of a dull bedside manner at first but it's just his personality! I don't know that he is accepting new patients but it's worth a try. Good luck! We searched forever for a doctor we were comfortable with.
Laura M. replied:
Try contacting the Dufferin Area Health Team possibly. Some of them even work out of Grand Valley so that you are able to see them either there or in Orangeville. http://dafht.ca/doctors
Siobhan M. replied:
Dr Ponke great reviews
Stephanie J. replied:
Only had the one appt so far, and was on waiting list for just over a year at Shelburne Centre for Health but was on antibiotics before the first appt and the Dr. there suggested another alternative so I'm not on them all the time. Was pretty impressed for the first appt. at that suggestion and have high hopes cause yeah, sick of the pharmaceutical fix for everything. Hopefully worth the wait.
Hello - is anyone aware of a family doctor accepting new patients? Thank you
Andrea P. replied:
Orangeville family medical centre on Elizabeth are. 519-938-8000
Tracy M. replied:
Nope Elizabeth isn't anymore....it says it on their answering machine. Try Shelburne they have a few new docs. Dr. Hoca at the walk in clinic on fifth ave takes new patients but he may not stay more than the usual five year contract. I usually have these numbers in my head but I'm drawing a blank. I'm thinking Shelburne is 925-0017. And hoca at fifth ave is 942-0040.

Totally would recommend Dr. Umeh! He's amazing!! He delivered 2 of my three children and had the best experiences for both of the deliveries. He doesn't waste time and knows exactly what to do! Personal service is given as well! Leaves his home at anytime to deliver your child! Best decision I ever made for my OB!

Good morning Orangeville. I'm looking for some assistance. My family doctor is still in Brampton. He doesn't have an active list of paediatricians to refer me to in...
Lindsay G. replied:
There are two paediatricians in Orangeville, both males. My son has seen Dr Oyefeso twice and he's lovely. Thorough and very knowledgeable.
Karen S. replied:
Dr Murphy is the other one in orangeville, my daughter use to see him he is very good
Joanne F. replied:
Would highly recommend Dr O. 519-942-0404 but you need a referral from your GP.
Lisa K. replied:
Yep my GP is going to give me the referral. Seeing a paediatrician was his suggestion. My daughter is 12. Not a baby. As my GP he feels more thorough investigations need to be done by a paediatric Doctor. I need to start somewhere. I feel the issues she's having are more "adult" in nature but because she's 12 I have to start with a paediatric Doctor. I have heard great things about Dr Murphy. Just not sure a man is the best choice. Hmmm
Terri K. replied:
Dr.Palad is the on call peads Dr when the other two are off, but I'm not to sure if she can be referred to as a peads Dr as she is a family Dr
Sarah W. replied:
Dr. Murphy really does his best to make his patients comfortable. He's such a great doctor he talked to both me and my parents rather than just my parents and helped me understand what was happening, great doctor
