Have a question for all of you dog lovers!! Gracie has been diagnosed with luxating patella and needs surgery. Does anyone know of a vet that they trust that does this...

The place we took Lily is called Veterinary Specialty Clinic - 1515 Busch Parkway, Buffalo Grove, 847-459-7535Dr. Claude Gendreau did the surgery-> Website: http://vetspecialty.com

We brought our one Cat there a few years ago to get an MRI of her stomach. We never took Lily there other than for her surgery. The DVM that did her surgery was suppose to be best in his field. They are suppose to be state of the art and was highly recommended by our Vet at the Palos Animal Hospital.

Mary--my sister also swears by Dr. Gendreau. She said he's the best. He did her lab's surgery. Heard great things about him but I would assume he would be quite expensive.

Family Pet Clinic in Tinley Park has been a wonderful vet for us. Good luck Mary and Gracie.

Dr. Andrea Hayes at Boone Animal Hospital in Western Springs is awesome. She did both ACL and Miniscus surgery on our golden.
any ideas, my girls skin is red, bumpy, raw, itchy. She has tiny patches where she is losing hair, little mosquito like bumps. She chews on her feet and has raw spots...

@Mary, Thank You for the link! I'm in touch with Dr. Dodd and have high hopes for correcting Calli's skin issues. I definately feel more educated in several areas now which is a good thing. Thank Everyone for the abundance of information and concern.

Maleseb Shampoo and Resicort Leave On Hydrocortisone. I would be bathing with this. Depending on how uncomfortable your dog is, you can bath them every other day. You can find this online (less expensive than at the vets) This will help relieve the itc hing and discomfort. If it is a food allergy it could take up to 8 weeks for you to notice results. Just switching food will not give you immediate results. Process of elimination with foods takes time. There are some foods out there that are specific for food allergies. Wellness Brand Simple Solutions. I am a bit surprised that the vet did not give you an antibiotic to help with the hot spots. Benadryl can help with the itchy feeling. Consult the vet as to what would be the correct dose for your girl. Also, the fact that you were away, may have been stressful hency, the licking and itching. I hope this helps.
