Can anyone recommend a good--not touristy--restaurant in Monterrey, California?

Thanks. I knew I could count on y'all. David said they had a great dinner at Passion Fish. Just the ticket after five days of camping at a music festival. Smoked trout ceviche (can it be ceviche if the trout is smoked?) burrata and heirlooms, followed by salmon and scallops. I believe there was a bottle of wine involved, too. BTW, Cindy Pawlcyn's place isn't open for dinner.

Pacific Grove: Passion Fish is excellent. Rio Grill at Highway 1 and Rio Road (Carmel area) Is always delicious and fun. In Monterey proper, I think it is called 1852 or something like that? Used to be called Stokes Adobe. Locals would know the new name.

I've had Fandango Restaurant in Pacific Grove on 17 th St. recommended to me as well as Tarpys on route 68 near the airport. Haven't eaten at either place, but a native has mentioned them both to me.

If it is open, Cindy Pawlcyn has a restaurant in the Aquarium, also very good. Touristy, but I always have solid meal there is the Sardine Factory.
My in-laws lived in the area in 1974-1975. They remember a Mexican restaurant on Lighthouse that was in a big yellow Victorian. Does anyone remember this place? They...
