I'm out of town right now and don't have my address book with me. Michael Sanders is a large animal Vet. who lives I believe in the Quartz Hill area or Lancaster. I will check my Church directory for a number. I'll get right back to you.
Needing advice! We have a sick dog and would like to get him to a vet ASAP! Does anyone have any suggestions for low cost, compassionate vets in Amador county?
Karen R. replied:
**UPDATE** I just spoke to my son. The vet is requesting that he take the dog to see a neurologist at VCA. Blue Oaks will keep him overnight on medication. We will take him to VCA in the morning. Does anyone have any knowledge of VCA, and/or what might be happening with our dog?

I use Mokelumne River Vet in Lockeford. Love them and their staff and they are reasonable. I won't use any of the small animal vets in Amador county. Have had to many bad experiences.
Jim L. replied:
Agree about pilsbury! She is at Jackson creek these days I think? We use Bradshaw vet at corner of Bradshaw and Grantline. Not close but affordable, good staff and open 24 Hrs a day.

We had a beautiful Chocolate Lab. Out of the blue, she had trouble walking and when she did, her back was arched. We took her to the Neuro vet in Sac. Sadly, she was diagnosed with spinal cancer. I hope your outcome is much happier. Am keeping you and your pet in my thoughts.
Dear AV Folks.. I need a GOOD Veterinarian up here. I know there are some I've tried who seem to be more about money then truly HELPING our Furry Family Members. Please...

Lancaster Pet Clinic. Dr. Greg truly cares about the animals, although I guess he wouldn't be considered cheap.
Thank you to all and to those that sent Texts. Serle--I know how much you love Dr.Greg. I don't believe good health care for Furr babies or humans should be scrimped but I've had horrific experiences up here with people doing nothing and letting animals die.. I used to drive to Big Tujunga Vet Hospital.. Went there for 25 years, even after the Dad retired and the son, who I adored, took over. Mind you I watched the Son grow up and LOVED the care.. But then the prices went OVER the moon!! A $2.00 roll of bandaging tape=$8.00.. Tests I could get other places were inflated two to three times. I will ALWAYS love that Doctor but I'm not paying $60 for a $35-40 visit and $165-250 for a test that would be $75-120 other places.. The son used to work in Bev Hills & apparently decided those prices would be fine in all of LA County.. Umm ok .. But a business owner better know his demographic .. Ok.. Enough spewing

Oh no, I def recommend Dr Ruppert. He is def about the animals and not just about money. Sorry, I was driving before
Does anyone know of a vet that's open today and won't charge a emergency fee? If so can I get their number? I need to take my dog in and have her checked out. Thanks
Can anyone recommend a good and affordable veterinarian? We just got the cutest little puppy and I think she may have cherry eye.
Aja R. replied:
When you need to get shots go to Van Dam farms you buy the shots for $7 a piece and do it yourself, much cheaper.
