Behavioral health at Children's. I know it's in Birmingham but they have an excellent program there. You may need a referral from your primary care doctor to get the first appointment set up and get the ball rolling!

Ok I know exactly what u r going through. Went to childrens and it was going to take 4 months to see the dr. I got home started calling around . Mountain View is the best around here. They are wonderful. If U need a number pm me and I can give u more info. My daughter has impulse control disorder and Adhd. And doesnt sleep. It doesnt take too long to get an appt. Either. I needed no referral either.

What school system is he in? You can talk to his school counselor about making a referral to JBS Mental Health. We offer case management, therapy and psychiatry.

I don't know of any psychiatrist but if you need emotional support while you and your son are going through this I recommend Arthur Harrison at First United Methodist Church or their new Pastor (Pastor Byron I think is his name). When you go through a rough emotional time it's very helpful to have someone to talk to. I'm sure any of the local Church's have excellent Pastors. Just reach out. You don't have to face this alone. Praying that you and your son get through this quickly.

JBS is wonderful and Eastside Mental Health is a joke. If you can get him through JBS's program, that would be where you should start. My son went through them and when he finished, his change in behavior was like dark to daylight.

I have had status migraines since I was 9. I am 44 now. I do Botox and nerve blocks for Trigeminal Neuralgia and C2 SNRB and CESI. For meds I have tried all the triptans, Midrin, Cambia, Diclofenac, Toradol, Zofran (nausea), and found for me that the best is DHE or Dihydroergotamine Injections I give myself. It comes in a nosespray called Migranal which is pretty $$$ or you can try Sprix which is Toradol NS but it burns like acid. Stadol also helps. The Daith piercing has very mixed results and I do not recommend it. An MRI will tell you if you have a chiari malformation or tumor or other neurological contributing factor but most often the cause is barometric pressure changes or dietary (MSG, nitrates, nitrites, theobromine in dark chocolates, tomatoes, dairy, gluten, and many others. Best to keep a migraine diary. Too little sleep/too much sleep, stress, not eating, dehydration, rebound headaches from narcotics, all can contribute. I see Dr Swillie and Dr Strong at Grandview. Dr Diane Counce is the best! Dr Michael Gibson is great for pain mgmt, also Dr Xavier at UAB. You need a team of specialists and your primary. Best of luck!!! Find what works for YOU!

Try Dr Boykin at northside medical in pell city.. He put me on imtrex and they helped mine

I also went to Dr Boykin in pell city, after years of wasting money on neurologists and still dealing with debilitating migrains. I even had to be hospitalized after having a migraine for 6 straight days. Mine are severe muscle spasms after he put me on anxiety meds for relaxation I only have mild headaches for the 1 st time since I was 7.

Dr. Rahim in Talladega (he has a few other offices) helped me tremendously. I have trigemenal neurolgy

Dr. Mark Hadley at UAB is the absolute best and is able to do minimal invasive back surgery. Whatever, y'all decide just PLEASE see a NEURO surgeon for your back AND NOT an orthopedic surgeon. That's the best advice I can give you as a health care professional.

He did my back surgeru in 2009 and I was well in 3 months, I haven't had any problems since. Dr Frosina got me in with him. 1 st off don't just go to a "back doctor" find a good neuro doc! But if you see a neurosurgeon that's what you'll most likely get surgery, (surgeon) Ive had 9 back and neck surgeries, 3 level, and a 2 level. Dr. Martin Jones at Brookwood is real good, but I would exaust every conservative treatment avenue before opting for surgery!
