Thinking of changing by dog insurance company from Sainsburys to More Than using their premier cover. I would be really interested to know about other peoples...

so thought I would use the Pet Insurance Survey site and this is from the John Lewis policy document What is Long Term Cover? John Lewis Pet Insurance offers long term cover for your pet, which means you’ll be able to claim for ongoing conditions. There is no time limit on how long treatment can last and we'll pay up to your chosen vet fee limit each year as long as we can continue to offer cover, your premiums are paid and the policy is renewed each year. key words there are 'as long as we can continue to offer cover' so to me that infers they can put an exclusion clause on and decide not to offer cover - so why do we bother with lifetime cover when the insurance companies have an 'opt out' clause? Anyone find an insurance with no such clause, let me know
Sally H. replied:
Debbie Elliott - you are absolutely right that there is an underlying problem with all lifetime cover.. the longest term available for pet insurance cover is one year (there are some monthly policies).. at the end of that one year if the insurer offers to renew they reserve themselves the right to change the terms, the excess and the premium! It is therefore very important to check the reputation of the insurer (just as Michelle is doing in this post). In order to help make this information more freely available Pet Insurance Surveys UK will be doing two major surveys over the next few months. The first will be to check on how satisfied people are with their insurers with regard to actually paying out claims... and the second will be to check on how much insurers are putting up premiums on renewal as it may be the case that some insurers are setting really low first year premiums just to get you hooked into a policy.. which is patently unfair.https://www.facebook.com/PetInsuranceSurveysUK

Absolutely Debbie.. Pet Insurance Surveys UK is really about building a community so we can all work together, and share the information that will help us get the best for our pets. Would like to think in time we can "out" the weaker companies and either make them change their practices or drive them out of business.. but maybe I am getting a bit ahead myself as it is only day 1 for the website!
I have been insured with more than for 12 months my new policy came through today and it has gone up by £323.04p per year.
Please be warned if you are thinking of...

In the last year or so More Than has been bringing out new policies which have been much cheaper. I was with them for both Pets and Home Insurance. Contacted them on both renewal dates and they cancelled my original policies and gave me the new ones. Halved premiums on both of them and better conditions. I now pay £44.04 a month for 3 dogs which gives £12,000 cover, including euthanesia and cremation. Worth ringing them.

Pet Plan, although look more expensive to begin with compared to others, the price does not go up each year, and Ive claimed more than 2 k on one dog in a year and both policies only went up by a pound each per year
