Long shot but does anyone know of a Nutritionist that is fine with the Vegan lifestyle and takes Medicaid? My Dr wants to refer me to one but I don't really seeing that...
Tori A. replied:
I'm not super well versed in insurance stuff, but my nutritionist Natalie Loschiavo at Balanced Nutrition LLC in West Chester took my IBC insurance, and she has always told me she would work with me if I used up all my insurance and still needed service. Maybe you could get reimbursed by Medicaid for the service or talk with Natalie about coming up with a co-pay you can afford? I had similar problems. I had stomach issues that my doctor couldn't help me with. Natalie helped me find foods that I could and would eat. She was always very understanding and encouraging about me being vegan though she isn't herself. I can't recommend her enough! I do hope you get some help, I know how terrible stomach issues can be. Here is the site http://www.balancednutritionllc.com/nutritional-services/
Jen T. replied:
I'm not sure if she takes Medicaid, but Wendy Romig has worked with me and has no problem with me being vegan. She knows her stuff. https://www.facebook.com/Sage-Integrative-Health-Center-159840150738126/

If you don't get any recommendations, you can always find one at eatright.org. Just make sure the person you go to is an RD (registered dietician) and not a nutritionist.
