I was part of a short that filmed at Grinder's Coffee in Phoenix near Central/Dunlap. They were willing to shut down for some of the filming days for Art Institute students, and a pic is on their website.

Does anyone know of any good coffee shops to study/work in Tempe? I am not an ASU student so I don't really know the area! Feel free to mention any of your favorite...

Cartel, Infusion, Royal, Xtreme Bean...

I live near Xtreme Bean at Butte and Southern - a bunch of people go there to do work. It's relatively quiet as coffee shops go. It used to be a bank, and the vault is made to be a dedicated quiet study space and has desks with separators([here's a pic](https://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/xtreme-bean-coffee-tempe?select=C4Nm0 xLR2 cfeNPxdKtqlCQ)).

Cartel Coffee Lab at Ash/University can get kind of crazy around midterms and finals at ASU, but otherwise is a great place with great coffee.

Can any Phoenix local recommend a local coffee shop that also serves donuts?

Oh, Jobot Coffee Shop. Good call.

Know of any nearer the Mesa/Tempe area? Echo Coffee (and Royal and Songbird) sound great, though. Thanks!
Renae H. replied:
There are a couple of good places around McClintock and Southern. On the SW corner, there's a place called Xtreme Bean, which does have some pastry offerings. Gold Bar Espresso on the NE corner doesn't have desserts--at least their website doesn't say so...but there's a Bosa Donuts right across the street, and I swear by Bosa, and the family that owns it is AMAZING.
Robyn L. replied:
Gold Bar is my recommendation; they DO have desserts which are orders of magnitude better than the desserts at Xtreme Bean. However, I don't think I've seen donuts at either place.
Hey does anyone remember "c's" coffee shop on Sunland Blvd, in Sun Valley, right near Don Ricardos Mexican Restaurant? I knoow neither one is there anymore.
Shirley S. replied:
It was called "Mr. C's". Now it is "Town Cafe". Was there a few weeks ago. Used to go there as a kid with my parents after model airplane flying, for pie, and coffee, for the adults. Lived on Lanark near Glenoaks. My friend Paula, u met her, reintroduced me.
Shirley S. replied:
Sorry, Scott. Definetely Town Cafe, now. Same layout as when Mr.C's in the 60's. Bob's further down the street. Went there almost every night when I was young.
