We use AW & Sons in La Habra. They are awesome. When our problem we called them on turned out to be minor he said oh shoot this is like a $5 part from Home Depot. He charged us accordingly and for his time.

Thanks SO much for all of your help and suggestions!! (Especially about Mr. Staggs. I didn't realize he was a plumber!) I have written them down for future, as our landlord insisted on calling his guy, who has turned out to be pretty good so far. We have a slab leak of 5 feet of pipe in our master bath, so they have to come back next week to fix it. Ugh! At least we have a shower and a toilet in the house that were unaffected, so that is good news! Good times… good times...
