went yesterday, looked clean and open. they have a female only area out back. That's a good idea, I imagine a lot of women might not like the coed atmosphere. All these places annoy me with their pricing. WOW has a $50 annual fee and a $20 joining fee?.....please, annual fee for what? Just work it into the monthly fee and keep people like me from feeling ripped off. And a joining/setup fee....ridiculous. still, even with all the bull pricing I might sign up. checking out Plymouth Fitness next because of the pool and basketball courts.
David S. replied:
Checked out Plymouth Fitness. Good looking place but it was ridiculously expensive. $150 plus "$58" signup fee. The $58 is in quotes because the sales guy we talked to there corrected me when I rounded up to $60. "No, it's only $58." He even wrote it down for me like it was a fantastic deal. lol. The pool is small and most classes are another fee. I didn't really see any equipment that I couldn't find something with similar functionality at another gym. The other odd thing was that when we mentioned someone we knew who also used the gym he started to look them up on his computer but couldn't find them. I found that disturbing. What was he going to to say to us about them if he found them? I wouldn't want him giving out any of my personal data like that if I was a member. Just kind of creeped me out. Everyone seemed nice, I just couldn't see the value of the cost.
Scott S. replied:
Plymouth Fitness is great as long as you don't try to leave for a couple months. They bill you for three months after you stop going. I guess it was in the fine print when I signed up 12 years prior and tried to leave for 3 months because I couldn't go and wanted to save money. They kept billing me. Shame too because I would have gone back after the three months but because of that I didn't. So they slimed their $300 off me but ended up losing a member for life and thousands of dollars that I now give to someone else.
