I love Dr. Templeton. He also practices holistic medicine so he offers herbal remedies (which do work, I've used them for my dachshund with a slipped disc and avoided surgery). He's very honest. He'll tell you all of your options, what's realistic to do, and things he could do, but isn't really worth the extra money. He's honest and up front about everything. He's there for the animals, not the money

I strongly suggest Dr. Sito at the centereach animal hospital (Not to be confused with centereach animal medical hospital-Dr. Greco)

We have had our puppy spayed at Island Rescue in Patchogue; both of our dogs go there, and their prices are definitely much better. Also, when one pup was sick over the summer, they pumped her with fluids and treated her for every possibly scenario to avoid expensive tests. Our bill was a couple of hundred, however, she was fine after a couple of days, and she received excellent care without us having to spend a fortune.

Dr Templeton at Animal Health & Wellness in East Setauket is the most hands on caring genuine vet I have met. I'm happy to have had him recommended to us when we moved to the area. I went somewhere cheaper for my dogs neuter and his stitches weren't healing correctly- Dr. T was our vet, and even though we went somewhere cheaper for his neuter, he still fixed his stitches for no charge and then my dog healed up in 2 days. He also makes himself available by phone if an ER ever comes up.

We use Dr. Jacobson in Farmingville. Been going there for years. Very good people. Good luck!

Middle Country Animal Hospital. I switched from Port Jefferson Animal hospital. I guess it's demographics but, they charge a lot less for everything. Also if you need shots, Petsmart has a pet vet on Saturday that offers low cost shots. Friends of Animals sells low cost vouchers for spay and neutering ay participating vets

Heidi Jochen, behind Save A Pet is Cliffs Clinic, a non profit dedicated to feline rescue. If you have strays that you feed they will rent you traps to catch them and them give the cats their shots/spay/neuter. I think it was $75? I did it for a some cats that hang around in my backyard a few years ago. You can also bring dogs there for routine shots. It was $45 last year for my pup to get his yearly shots there.

I also have been going to Dr. Zangara for many years, very compassionate!

For our Cat we go to Island Rescue in Patchogue. We have found they are least expensive when it comes to well visits and shots. For the Guinea Pig and Bunny we use Port Jeff Animal Hospital and really like them too. They have a vet on staff that is an "exotic pet" vet and can treat bunnies, rodents and birds. We like both vets very much:)

If you need to get shots go to Petco. They are half the price! The company is there every Saturday and Sunday from 10 am-12 pm. I have checked with my doctors as well as friends. I was nervous about taking my dog and the ladies were amazing. Very Knowledgeable! The vet I use is Country Side Animal Hospital in PJ. They are all amazing!! There is three doctors and the staff is awesome!! I like Dr. Zangara but I felt like it always cost me a fortune. I know all vets are expensive but I feel Country side do what they can to help you out with the cost.

BTW, I was not taking Trey all the way to Huntington either. Call Kent Animal Shelter now to make an appointment for getting Romeo fixed because they are the cheapest place but there is such an demand that the wait time for an appointment is several months. Wish someone had told me. I called when Trey was 6 months old and they told me there was a three month wait. If I had booked it, I would just be getting it done now because we already had reservations at the lake, AND I wouldn't have been able to board him unfixed.

I have always used Jefferson Animal Hospital. Dr. Jeff & Dr. Brian are wonderful. They never go overboard, never do anything unnecessary, and they & their staff are so sweet with the dogs and with me.

We use Dr. Z at Roosevelt Animal Hospital. He is great with my dogs. He does all their shots. I tried to save money and had my younger dog neutered somewhere else and he has a huge scar. Sometimes you get what you pay for.

Dr. Zangara. He came in on his own time to check on one of my dogs that was horribly ill. He doesn't rush you. Is caring and doesn't muzzle. Man is the best. His prices are normal. He gives discounts for multi animals. He's not trying to make a killing on anyone.
