Looking for advise for a deck builder that isn't super complicated. It will be our first one of this type. Suggestions please!

We designed Harry Potter: Hogwarts Battle specifically for people new to DBGs.

+1 Clank!, Harry Potter is good, Ascension

Alright. Dominion is pretty much the standard deck builder. Might as well start there, especially with a 2 nd edition recently out. You can get used to the deck building idea (since that's all dominion has really) and then branch out. Star Realms is cheap and awesome, too.

The Penny Arcade one is a lot of fun!

If you want to fall asleep try Dominion. Otherwise something like Big Book of Madness is a good starter and it's a coop.

Most deck builders aren't complicated. But if you want the basis of just gaining points and then buying stuff, that's Dominion. Doesn't get any "simpler" than that. If you like to use currency to buy weapons and ammo and kill zombies Resident Evil DBG is a little more challenging and adds a dimension of game play that "simple" doesn't satisfy. Also if you wanna go with another uncomplicated route but adds a good amount of strategy the more you play and get used to the system Cryptozoic's "Cerberus Engine" line of works is a good starting place.

Dominion and Ascension are both available as apps on your phone to try- I personally wouldn't go with Dominion as I don't enjoy the strategies used in it, but a lot of people enjoy it. Star Realms is a very good one that's also available as an app to try. Ascension is my favorite deck builder out of all of them. If you enjoy word games, then try Paperback, it's essentially Scrabble as a deck builder. And if you'd like to try a deck builder with more mechanics than -just- deck building, Tyrants of the Underdark also has area control via a board.

Marvel Legendary is a good, simple deck builder.
Steven D. replied:
Ascension is probaby about as simple a deckbuilder as you can get. Also Star Realms.
What's the main differences between DC deck building and marvel legendary deck building game? Which would you prefer I purchase? I have dominion + all expansions, but...
Paul S. replied:
Well I was going to recommend Star Realms, but you know... Space.
