We have an older dog that is nearing the end of her life cycle. We are looking for recommendations on which Vet...
Pat W. replied:
Dr. Barnes was good when I had to put my 80 lb. lab cross down. He said he would come to my house to do if unable to get in car to office.
Trish G. replied:
I can't say enough good things about Dr. Fleming on Alberni St.
Jen C. replied:
Yes, both are great. Powell River vet (Alberni st) is where I'd always gone, but when the time came and the vet was away... Westview vet (Joyce ave) was happy to take us in and help:) both great options with caring people
Terri S. replied:
Brian Barnes at Westview Vet Clinic is the best -have dealt with him for many years and was very kind and caring and understanding of my wishes
Julie M. replied:
Doctor Barnes on joyce by McDonald's. It's 604 485 5111
Anna A. replied:
I have used Dr Flemming. He has been wonderful. But like what has been said. Both are very good
Elana B. replied:
I've had Dr. Barnes since we moved here 15 years ago. I've had to have a couple of my fur babies put down and they were wonderful in explaining what was going to happen etc., made a horrible situation a lot easier to bear.
Hello...I'm new to Powell River and am looking for recommendations for a local veterinarian. Who do you go to and why?! Thanks for any info :)
Cindy K. replied:
Dr. Barnes. He has looKed after my dogs since birth (17 yrs). He was very good with my 2 fur babies. He is thorough and fair. When we had to say goodbye to them he was very caring and compassionate. The staff is great as well. If I got another dog, there is no question as to who I would go to.
Sylvia L. replied:
Dr. Barnes, Westview Vet Hospital. He was so gentle with my pets(birds, cats and dog). His staff is very professional. When I have brought my pets in for urgent care and was worried and scared it could be something serious, The calm and professional attitude that he has relaxed me, and made me feel that I had brought them to someone who cares.
Jennifer M. replied:
DR Barnes is good.....although some of this replacements while he's away are not
Georgia G. replied:
I take my dog and two cats to Dr.Barnes. He and his staff are so great and my animals love him!! I actually think my dog is in love with him:)
Caitlan M. replied:
Dr Barnes
Joan F. replied:
We've gone to Dr. Barnes for years. You can absolutely feel the love he has for his patients. He never rushes you and answers any concerns or questions you might have. Now with that being said, I've also heard wonderful things about the other Vet from people:)
Melanie J. replied:
I prefer Dr. Flemming with smaller animals. I've had issues in the past with Barnes. Flemming is very kind and explains things to you and doesn't push treatments on you.
Allison M. replied:
We use Dr Barnes and he is fantastic!
Shelly M. replied:
One of the reasons I would always recommend Dr Barnes is, he knows we are on Texada and when my 3 month puppy decided to eat a wasp and had an allergic reaction, his first question was how long until the next ferry. As it was a Wednesday it was over 5 hours. So he told me what to try over the phone. Then called back a few times to check up on us, and didn't bill us for his time. Being on Texada I do phone consultations if possible and they are always great about it.
Tina M. replied:
Both vets are awesome. I have used both but I regularly use Dr. Fleming He has always been awesome with my pets very compassionate, explains everything very well. He is very patient & gentle with the animals.
Andrea B. replied:
We go to Dr. Barnes who has been great and I have also heard awesome things about Dr. Fleming, too.
Mo W. replied:
I would recommend seeing both as well. Both vets have die-hard followers. Personally, I like Dr. Fleming, and I've been to both. Dr.Fleming isn't quick to charge you $$$ with unnecessary tests/X-rays, etc... He's very knowledgable, and very good with my dog and cat. Nothing against Dr. Barnes, just my preference. I would go to both and make your decision based on what you like:) Welcome to PR!
Shelly M. replied:
I have heard good about both, we go to Dr Barnes at Westview. The staff there are great.
Kate S. replied:
We go to Dr Barnes with our 2 large dogs and 2 cats. Both my dogs are incredibly fearful, one is fear aggressive. Dr Barnes is very patient and good with them. He is very knowledgable and the staff are good with them.
Shayne L. replied:
We go to Dr Fleming with our cats and dogs....He and his staff are so gentle and compassionate. Plus his prices are better ! Both Vets always seem to have great reviews in town but the prices seem to be where the difference is.
Aleicia V. replied:
I've used both but currently go to Dr Fleming. Either is a good choice, as the majority of people would agree.
Carissa S. replied:
Dr Barnes, very knowledgable, gentle, and an all around excellent vet
Wendy T. replied:
We have always gone to Dr. Barnes. Here he is with my dog in February. He and his staff are wonderful, but I've heard good things about Dr. Fleming too.
