It's almost certainly FATCA related. It's easier for some companies to dump their US clients than deal with all of the paperwork required. Search this forum for FATCA and you'll see several messages from last year when some banks started dropping US clients. Gina Hearn - it's more about the US government wanting to keep US citizens from hiding/sheltering their money abroad, since it is subject to global taxation. It has nothing to do with any perceived (or actual) local corruption problems.
