I took a three-week immersion course in Bandol. It is roughly halfway between Marseilles and Toulon on the coast. There are some touristy things to see in the surrounding area and there are some vineyards to visit. The Circuit Paul Ricard is in the vicinity if you like car racing. airbnb.com - read the reviews - but you need to narrow down the 'where' part first ; temps will be hot! - i would head for a nice small town near water that's on a direct train line from paris. depends how far from paris you want to go.
