My daughter is starting preschool at Augsburg Park Montessori next month, and we are excited about it. I don't think they have the option for just three days a week, but they have half day or full day options. It is really affordable, especially for Montessori. I will be paying less there than I was for in home daycare this summer. http://www.augsburgpark.com/

I would check out http://parentaware.org/ then call their referral line. They take your child care preference (location, times, etc) and send you a spreadsheet with the matches. You still have to call to see if they have openings but that was the only way we found infant care

Sara G. replied:
I don't personally have any experience with this situation or with Mother Duck, but I would guess it happens everywhere once in a while. I imagine it's hard for centers to predict what will happen with enrollment so far down the line, and when something changes, they probably err on the side of giving the spot to a current family. Totally sucks for you, though:( At this point in the timeline, your best bet is going to be looking for an in-home placement, looking for someone to do a nanny-share with, or hiring a stay-at-home-parent to do your childcare. Good luck!
Milissa C. replied:
I am sorry to hear this has happened to you. I don't think it reflects the majority of experiences with them, but that certainly doesn't make it better for you right now. My boys attended Mother Duck for 3+ years (are now in grade school) and our experience was amazing! We actually were in a situation where our nanny resigned and we had a week to find other care and were able to secure two spots at Mother Duck for them within just a couple days. Good luck finding other care.
Chandra B. replied:
I called mother duck 3 times when I was looking for infant care and never got a call back. Have you looked at childcare licensing information on the DHS website? http://licensinglookup.dhs.state.mn.us/

There is free all day preschool for 4's (half day option as well) and free half day preschool for 3's. They are instituting a lottery this year since demand has increased since it became free this past year. You automatically get a spot if you fall within certain income guidelines, you do the lottery if you fall outside the guidelines. There are affordable private preschool options too- I know lots of families who have really loved the preK programs at Hope and House of Prayer churches. From what I understand they are religion light. I think those are part day options but HoP at least has a full daycare if you needed a full day.

Parent Aware is new program that is giving daycares up to a four star rating depending on how kindergarten ready daycares are teaching the children. I am a daycare provider going through the process now. We have to use certain curriculum, certain assessments, lots of very specific trainings and prove that we are teaching the correct skills kids need to start school. We have to apply for the stars and reapply every other year to keep our stars. So long story long... ;) Look for a daycare with 4 stars with the parent aware program or at least one in the process to get them! It will show that the daycare cares enough to try hard and jump through hopes to be sure we are doing all we can do to help insure our kids are ready for school.

I second Early Choldhood Programs from Richfield/Bloomington Community Ed. Licensed early childhood teachers going though several trainings to be up to date, they Intensively prepare children in a fun and purposeful way for Kindergarten. Plus, most of the classes are held in elementary buildings, so by the time they go to kindergarten, the children are very familiar and confident with the environment.
